The hot deals is free email.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you can't just sign up for gmail, you need a referral so we're left with trying to see suggestions if there are better deals than 1GB Yahoo.

Microsoft Hotmail deletes all your email if you don't, for whatever reason, log in every 30 days.

Turns out Yahoo's limit is FOUR months, I just checked.

Unless you need Hotmail for something specific, Yahoo (itself) spams your account less than Microsoft (itself) does Hotmail + Microsoft sometimes has full screen intrusive ads whereas Yahoo does not.

1GB here...it seems the upgrade is based on the date you signed up for a Yahoo email account. This can also be applied to a Hotmail Account. What can you say...its FREE!

You could edit your Yahoo Mail Options to send commonly used keywords in your spam to be sent directly the the trash. You don't even see it and it could cut your spam by an estimated 50%. I think there is a limit to 10 queues. On the downside, if your aquaintences use that keyword you'll be searching in the trash for their email.

Referals have been pretty darn easy to get since they gave everybody 50 invites.

If I knew somebody who wanted a gmail address I'd give them out.

Can someone please tell me a legitimate reason for having that much space in your email account? I'm very serious as I've been a Yahoo! user for about 8 years now and have never gone over 15%...I think that was when it was 10MB limit. (right now it's 0% used with 250MB and yes, I have archived probably 15 emails) Do you guys send out massive attachements? Store warez? I'm pretty serious as to what reason these guys (Google, Yahoo!, etc) have to keep upping the limits when I cannot come up with a feasable reason to keep doing this. Competition with Google is all I can come up with as an answer.

Changing an email address you've had for many years is really hard sometimes and running around to all of these companies with a new email address everytime they increase storage is really dumb in my book.

I don't mean for this to be a thread cap or anything, but I really want to know if you guys use this kind of space and if so, what for? Are you really just lazy and check your mail once a month to let it build up?

Thanks!

dont think so.

My yahoo mail account is from nearly the first day it was available and still no upgrade.

I have a two letter Hotmail account (xx@hotmail.com) that I got on the first day hotmail allowed signups and it took forever for it to get the larger capacity....well after my younger accounts were upgraded.

For the impatient....

http://whatsnew.mail.yahoo.com/

Coming soon! 1GB of storage, free to all users

There's more in store with Yahoo! Mail. By early May, all free Yahoo! Mail users will receive an email storage increase to a whopping 1GB. That's enough space to keep thousands and thousands of emails -- so you may never have to delete those important messages again!

What a bunch of buttholes. Anyway I can downgrade mine to the previous 250MB... or better yet, last year's 6MB?

I get about 200-500 spam mails a day to my original yahoo account, and I really just want it to fill up and start causing bouncebacks. I was going strong... with a pace to hit capacity around August... now my inbox has gone from about 40 percent full to 11 percent full . Same thing happened when they went from 100MB to 250MB. I'll never get there at this rate.

Just email yourself a really big file to fill up your space... Then once the first spam e-mails come through your account will be full and you will start bouncing spam... no need to wait...

Woohoo!

Upto 1gb... my wife still at 250MB

Try this program if you would like to download your yahoo mail via pop for free:
http://www.freepops.org/en/

It runs a pop server on your machine and 'simulates' a visit to yahoo.com and downloads the mail for you. It works great, had been using yahoopops before that but this is way better and works w/ a bunch of other webmail sites as well (incl. hotmail).

Still 250 here, and my account was created in late 97. I just keep it alive as a spam address and for nostalgia.

That would work, except it's gonna timeout with anything over about 8-10 megs.

I'd be happy about this, but I'm sure they'll do like Hotmail and accounts that are older than dirt will take a year and a half to upgrade.
