I've gotten scam look-alike websites via emails pretending to be Ebay, Citibank, and a few others.

This stuff has been going on for a long time now.

This is why these sites tell you they never request credit card info over e mail. Anything that requests that sort of info over e mail should be red flagged immediately.

The message doesn't ask you for a credit card number right away, over e-mail.

It tells you that your account will be closed if you don't pay and sends you to that website, which looks like a legitimate Yahoo! portal, with logos and all, where you're supposed to input your data.

You have the option to buy extra e-mail storage and other web-based services. Kinda like upgrading your e-mail. I know people who have paid, to be able to check their e-mails anywhere in the world.

 

It's a scam. I believe it was posted in here a little while back.

Everybody here should know that no legitimate company will ever ask for your personal information in an email, unless perhaps you've requested it.

I've seen it before. Except they were actually asking for account information and a credit card number VIA EMAIL. They were quickly beaten into submission by their user base, however, and have now implemented a proper ordering system.

Hold on you guys, before you form a lynch mob and get arrested vandalizing the property of someone who is probably not responsible for this scam read Descartes post. I'm assuming you aren't stupid enough to fall for the scam, so what harm has it done to you to provoke such violence, maybe some of us could benefit from some good old fashioned psychotherapy.

Thanks, I clicked the link, logged into Yahoo! and updated my credit card info.

Son-of-a-bitch they were right, my Fleet Platinum VISA credit card with $10,000 limit expired last month and was recently renewed.
