Not looking good for the Gulf states; but at least Southern Florida was spared a direct hit.

I wouldn't count the west coast of southern Florida out of the woods yet.
I see it curving up the west coast once it passes the keys.
Hopefully I am WRONG this time but I have called every storm right this season so far far better than the official forecasts with their fancy computer models that they rely too much on.

I don't see it making the extreme left hand turn in Georgia like they are showing.

Stop lying.
You and the officials said it would trek on to Texas and you said you would not see rain from the system.
I said it would go northeast and North Carolina would get rain from it and it did.
I conceded it went a little further west than I originally thought but it certainly came back northeast as I said it would.
Stop lying.

Hopefully Ike spares Lousiana... the whole state is still recovering from Gustav. There are still large parts of that state that still don't have power, and some of them will not have power till another week or so.
And for the love of the almighty, NOLA is not representative of the state of Lousiana, just b/c NOLA didn't sink/ get destroyed doesn't mean that the rest of the state faired as well. Hopefully Ike doesn't damage us any more.
On on other news, my buddy said he got hurricane evaced from his oil rig a few days ago. I guess they are still waiting in the GoM on what to do with the oil rigs, and their personel.

It is a shame how the rest of the state is ignored.
Rita ripped the crap out of coast west of Lafayette and was hardly noticed by Mainstream Media.
Gustav really nailed Lousiana between Houma and Lafayette and wrecked havoc in the Baton Rouge area and hardly anyone notices.
How did your buddy's rig do with Gustav?

why don't you go set yourself on fire?

This isn't looking good. The tracking was pretty accurate for Gustav, and I'm hoping this doesn't head for Galveston. Although I wonder if Houstonians would rather endure a hurricane than host evacuees from New Orleans.

My buddy flew out of Galveston for his rig, and then apperently he flew back in b/c of fears with Ike. As to the condition of some of the rigs my friends work on, i could hardly guess. I haven't heard too much about rig damage.
Yeah, I left Lafayette to go chill at my GF places in Opelousas.. St Landry parish... bad idea. Laffy did pretty good, while St Landry got screwed and it seems like most of the state got a good beatin' from Gustav. Its shame that some places won't have power for at least a few more weeks.. but those estimates could have been revised. Baton Rouge got hit hard; Terrebone Parish, and Lafourche Parish.. if i recmeber from one article claimed that they received a good thrashing from Gustav.. Heck we still got curfews in effect for areas still.
well... i guess it shall be another week of waiting... waiting and preparing...
