I just got mine..........and a friend called to see if he could do it too..

the csr, needless to say..was a bit**..and said a memo came down from coporate saying they could not price match this.that its not the same item..because there is no way they can offer a 450 drive for that low..

I of course gave her some hell for that..saying it was..and if staples did not want to honor their price match policy..then maybe they should do away with it all together

At least I got mine.....but I am curious if anyone has tried it recently to see if they could get in on this deal

Did mine today, dude. Like I said, it was a PITA, spending over an hour total on the phone. We'll see if it shows up on my doorstep.

Doneedlove, the drive is on special at B&M CompUSA stores. Check the weekly flyer. Price is good til Saturday, 23rd. If you go to the CompUSA website and under the "In Our Stores" (or equiv) link there's a link for advertised specials.

i got mines yesterday. the pins on the back are 50 pins i believe. It comes with the enclosure. It's a nice drive for a REAL nice price. I got mines in 2 days!

you are going to need to buy a cable.and they are not dirt cheap...dont skimp out tho.buy a good one..it makes all the difference in the world.

Check the card you have, it may have come with a cable, the better ones usually do

should i spend extra money and go for a good scsi 3 card or will a tekram 315u be good enough. it's 18 bux plus 10 shipping on pricewatch.com. it comes with the externel and internel cables. upto 7 devices.
the only prob with this drive is that it cannot be booted off of because it does not have a host cpu (or something like that). but just for the burner, it sounds like a good deal to me...i would love some feedback on it.

So how many people actually received anything from Staples.

My intial pricematch over the phone was turned down. I sent them an email asking for an explanation and got a pricematch authorization back from them.

In order, this is what happened next:

I placed an order, adding some stationary to bring it above $200.

I received an email stating the coupon had been credited to my account.

I received a message from Staples indicating the drive was discontinued and would not be shipped.

The stationary arrived, with an added shipping fee more than the cost of the item.

I called Staples to inquire about the order and ask why the shipping wasn't free as it should have been. The CSR advised me that the shipping charge had already been credited back. She then indicated that the CDRW was discontinued and would not be shipped.

Later that evening I called another CSR and inquired about the same item. I was told it could be ordered and would ship in about 5 days.

Something smells very funny here!

well i ordered mines a few days back! it doesn't come with a scsi cable or a scsi card =(. but the first time i called i got shot down. then i called again the next day and i got a nice lady, she knew about the deal (she herself had ordered it hehe). She said it would arrive at my house on the 1st of oct, well it arrived two days after i ordered like the 18th or something and im a happy man! they added 8.95 special order cost or something but i didn't complain!
