Yamaha 24x8x4x Rewritable SCSI External Drive normally at $440.99 can get down to $159.99 + tax. Credit to Canoe2 for pointing this out on Gotapex Forums. Here's all the info I gathered for you to get this deal.

Staples Item Number: IM1239687 (CD-RW)
Staples Price: $440.99
CompUSA SKU Number: 272908
CompUSA Price: $199.99 (In weekly flyer)
Staples Item Number: 864514 (paper clips)
Coupon: $40 off $200 (I think you know where to find coupon codes)
Sales Tax: $13.06 (because matching to a local store)
Shipping: Free (same reason)

Total Price $171.40 (that's what they charged me although the math is off a bit)

Contacts:

Staples: (800) 3-STAPLE
Customer Service Rep: Michael
CSR Extension: 5482
Michael's TSM (manager): Cherly Marable

Staples: (800) 3-STAPLE
Customer Service Rep: Jennifer Crowder
CSR Extension: 6863
Jennifer's TSM: Tawanna

I talked to about 4 different CSRs and a few of them would only pricematch if the item was in stock at my local store. Well, right now not too many local stores have this item in stock. The 2 CSRs I listed would both match the price. They have a faxed copy of the flyer I sent them.

One more option and it might even be cheaper, it to pricematch to CompUSA online. If you call (800) 834-7328 and talk to Brandlyn at Ext. 36198 she will tell you that they have the item in stock and will ship it to you at the price of $199.99 (after pricematch to flyer). As long as them have it in stock Staples will pricematch but Staples will charge you whatever CompUSA would have charged for shipping. It might even be lower then the $13.06 I paid in taxes. I would use this option is Staples is demanding that the item be in stock. Have them call Brandlyn if they need to. Just an idea.

How did you come up with 275% off regular price? I'm interesting in anything that's selling for 275% off regular price.

He probably meant the inflated RETAIL price, not the regular price. Retail prices are set to make vendor prices look attractive.

Nightwatch, i hope my kids don't go to school where you learned your math.

FYI, 100% off is free

edit: that is unless you meant to put $275 off regular price, than that would make sense

WOW! Does that mean that they will PAY me $1,212.72 to take this drive off their hands? Or will they just PAY me $771.73?
Now that is a HOT DEAL

$440 - $160 = $280 or 63% off

not

$160 (Staples Price after pricematch) x 275% (2.75) = $440.00 (Staples regular price)

My apologizes...
Been a long time....

excuse me nightwatch, but that ain't % off. it is more like:

$172 / $441= 0.39 which means it is 39% of the original price

100-39= 61% which means it is 61% off regular price

The way you calculated it is how you would find the price increase.

There is your elementary math lesson of the day.

Ok, 61% with Tax...

Geez! I take notes all the way through this whole deal with phone numbers and names to make it as easy as possible on anyone that wants it for themselves and all I get is crap about my math?

Next time I'll be more vague to make sure you are all happy. Can someone go through and make sure my spelling is Ok? Also, let me know if I left fragmented sentences.

Obviously you know your Math and it was just an oversight. Your effort in posting this deal is appreciated, at least by me even though I'm not jumping on this deal.

these people are being real a holes about this........ive been on the phone a hundred times and talked to supervisors.they wont price match it because they say compusa does not carry it in stock, they order it as needed from yamaha.

Also, they will only pricematch to the 399 listed on their web site...I of course cried discrimination..so did anyone do this successfully and if so...wanna post an order number so i can call them yet again and make a point

Did you try to call Brandlyn? They have it in stock and will sell it for $199.99. You should be able to pricematch to that price.
Also, did you use the CRS I referenced? I had been working with out 4 CSRs and got shot down but Jennifer called me and we did the deal then Mike called me about 5 minutes later and said he would match the price as well.

Anyone know what kind of SCSI (no. of pins) connector this drive actually has on the back (the actualy drive, not the enclosure)? If I get one I wanna take out the drive from the enclosure and put it in my PC.

Finally got this deal done. Total ran me $183 or so. Was on the phone on hold for the longest time. The first Staples rep I called said that CompUSA didn't have them in stock. Then I called CompUSA and spoke to someone who said they did have them in stock, but had just gotten them in. So I called another person at Staples, and she spent a bunch of time calling people at CompUSA. When she came back to me she said that the local store had them in stock, but that since they didn't deliver she couldn't price match as (she said) they need to include shipping costs as comparison. I balked at this and then she spoke to her supervisor who told her to go ahead and give it to me at the CompUSA price. So I tossed on the $25 off 100 code I got on a postcard earlier this week and went through with it. Sometimes ya gotta wonder if it's worth the hassle of spending all that time on hold and arguing with these Staples CSR folks...

Can some one help me understand (Could be long some times),
how I can make copies of Dreamcast CDs, My son is not handling
them right, on top of it now the 2 1/2 year old plays frisbee
with those CD's, I heard these CD's have intentional bad tracks
or something. If any body can help me please do.
Thanks

You can not make copies of Dreamcast games, they are 1 gig disks. You however can download "back ups" off various sites on the net, search mIRC for dreamcast or search altavista for dreamcast games or something like that....
