I searched for prices on 8x4x24 SCSI on Pricewatch and the lowest price is
$149+$14 shipping and about $68+$14.95 shipping for IDE. Although this drive is a refurbished, it looks to be a pretty good price for a SCSI burner. Comes with a
90-day warranty, and cheapest shipping is $4.00 via USPS Priority Mail. I'm not sure
if they still offer 5% off for members.

Does anyone know how big a difference BURNPROOF makes in a SCSI burner? I've
noticed some SCSI burners appear to come with that technology, but how much improvement
does it make as opposed to IDE with BURNPROOF?

i don't think you really need burnproof for scsi. if you're burning scsi to scsi, it shouldn't matter: you are off of the IDE bus completely anyway. hmmmmm, this is looking tempting, since i think my burner is kaput. IDE is so cheap, but I still want scsi.......hmmmmmmmm what to do?

I used to have this drive. PM and got it at staples for $145. Good drive, quite fast. However, it is unable to burn the newer copy protection schemes and does not support DAO. If you're not looking for these options, then it should be fine. I've had no problems with the burner, perfect disc-to-disc copies. I also have a plextor Ultraplex 40xWide, so maybe that's one of the reasons it was perfect. Sold it and got myself a plextor 8220 which i'm quite happy with
