OK, price is no object. Which CDRW should I buy. Software included doesn't matter as I already own Roxio and Nero.

If price is no object I would get a Pioneer DVD/RW...

If that is slightly out of your range... the Plextor CDR/RW's are quite good. I have also never had any problems with Sony's CDR/RW's.

As for Yamaha... I would think you would be safe with one of those too...

For what it?s worth I have 2 Yamaha?s that never give me a problem, an old HP 8100 still going strong and a Lite on I just picked up that?s working well. I had 2 Sony?s but they both went belly up shortly after getting them.

Out of those three, I've seen very good reviews of the Yamaha drives, but the Plextor ones are also very good. You might as well save some money and get the Lite-On drives. I know you're tired of hearing about them, but it's a really great drive for a really great price. Hope this helps.

If you are talking about the best drive currently available from each manufacturer, the order I would put those three in is:
Yamaha, Plextor, and much further down, Sony.
Yamaha has produced some greater CD-RWs after the 16X.
Plextor always produces good drives.
Sony - well, IMO, Sony sucks - I would get Lite-On, or LG, or just about anybody else over Sony.

I am leaning towards the Yamaha because of the 8 Mb buffer. I am working on a sweet deal, if it works I'll post in Hot Deals soon.

I also read a review about the new 32x drives coming out. Seems that the LiteOn is only burning at 26.5x. Why call it a 32x. I'm gonna save my money and buy a 24x for sure.

Plextor 40x if you can wait a couple of weeks. If not the Lite-On 24/32x drives or the LG 16/24x drives are very good. I like my LG drives better due to their very quiet operation.

People have been splitting hairs with Plextor vs Yamaha for years now. Basically, SCSI or IDE, you won't go wrong with either - there will be no reason you can fault either make. People will swear by one or the other - to be honest I have used both and have been impressed with them - far beyond any other makes, including Sony.

I have a Yamaha 16x and it's awesome so I would recommend it. A couple of years back I had a Sony and it was pretty good too. I never had a Plextor, but out of all the reviews I hear it's the best

The Yamaha 24x drives use a different write method (P-CAV) than other drives which use a method called Z-CLV. P-CAV is generally considered to be the better strategy, but it's not a big deal.

I like the Plextor 12/10/32s have 2, 1 in each system and love them. They go great with my Plextor 40x max drives. They are SCSI, but that is just what I prefer.
