Yamaha TSS 1B speakers for $130 with free shipping and no Tax in CA

I don't know if this is a good deal or not but I stumble upon this looking for a speaker system for my XBox. The system has a DD5.1/DTS decoder and uses about 48W. 18W for the Sub and 6W for each of the satellite speakers (there are 5 satellite). Anyways, it is about 160 bucks at Amazon with free shipping, but there is also a 30 rebate from Yamaha from now until 4/30.

At the price range that the Yamaha TSS 1B Speakers are offered at, it'll be better to go for the Logitech Z560's (4.1 speaker set) instead since it offers more power (400watts of power ) and better quality than the Yamaha speakers. However, the Z560's are only a 4.1 speaker setup instead of a 5.1 setup this Yamaha system offers. So if 5.1 is important for you, then forget about the Logitechs.

The quality on the Yamaha TSS1's are MUCH higher than the logitech z560's. The z560's have much more power and bass, but the quality of the sound isn't as good as the yamaha TSS1's (I own a pair of both). Also, the yamaha is 5.1 compared to 4.1 and it is digital. I paid $190 about a year ago and have been very happy ever since! I highly recommend the yamahas.

Oh, btw, the only down side to the yamaha TSS1's is that the only way the 5.1 will work is using them as digital speakers. Using them as analog will only work with a 4.1 setup.

These were $136 shipped earlier (repost) at Amazon. The rebate is good till 4-30-02. I'm gonna wait a little for a lower price somewhere.

I have these speakers and I love them. Bought them for $156 shipped a few months ago so that price is decent. The lack of ample inputs is annoying but if you want system with 5.1 and DTS without all the components, its a nifty little system.

Also, I've listened to Yamaha products quite extensively at work, and I'd say that their speakers fall short of level of quality they've acheived with the home audio receivers, etc.

For $170 on pricewatch, I would spend the extra for the logitechs in a heart beat.

It has both the Optical and Coaxial digital inputs which all DVD should have. The cables are about 20 bucks, but it is worth it.
