Silly question for yamaha v receiver owners...what volume do you usually watch blu Rays at? Or at least the range of volume. I'm using the yamaha v377 with the Klipsch quintet 5.0 satellite speakers and the SVS sb1000 subwoofer. I'm trying to see if the receiver is defective at all. Everyone was raving about the svs sub and don't know if I'm being paranoid but I thought it would have a little more oomph.

Yep...did everything including factory reset on the Yamaha. Also was on phone with svs tech support and connected a CD player directly to sub, which seems to be fine. I do hear bass but I was expecting a little more. I guess only way to know for sure is to try with another receiver, which will be a major pain in the ass hehe

It's at about 1 o'clock . Do you have the movie zombie land on blu ray ? I wanna know if your woofer gives bass when you hear music during certain parts of the movie. This can prove if everything is good on my end hehe

Just crank it up until you get the level of bass you like. Also check the bass level in your receiver. Make sure the receiver is set up properly.

From everyone's input, I finally realized that there's nothing wrong at all haha. This is the first time I've had halfway decent equipment and had to learn about frequency range and what not. As far as the subwoofer, I just assumed it would be used during blu ray playback when music would play or when there would be action scenes. I didn't realize it would only be used at certain times that the sound engineers decided on when creating the audio track.

Yeah your sub should only be playing sub bass below 80 Hz, which means most of the time during movies you're not going to hear much out of the sub, until an explosion or something happens. As for overall volume, that would depend totally on the size of your room and the size of your speakers, as well as your preferred listening volume. I have a yamaha receiver with Energy pro 22 speakers and prefer to listen around -15 Db or so with dynamic range control turned off.
