A570 is great, but beware of the extra cost in rechargeable batteries and charger.

True, but actually using AA batteries is a selling point to me. You can pick up 4 NiMH AA's and a charger for less than $20 if you don't already have one. No proprietary batteries that cost $30-50 a pop. And if you go on a trip and forget your charger, you can pick up AA batts anywhere to suffice.

They won't be great batteries unless you snag a hot deal.
