Inspired by story from someone playing with real money...

I was high blind... NO ONE BET! 10 4 in my hand, not suited. Of course, if anyone bet, I'd have folded... instead, everyone called.

Flop: 10 4 2
I have 2 pair.... I end up going all in, expecting to just win the pot.

But noooooooooooooooo.....
Someone had to call... they had a pair of 2's at that point.

And... the river card.... another 2.

Not high stakes... $20 down the drain.

That player was folding on much better hands all night long... I can't believe she even called after the deal with a 7 2 (or whatever it was)

most likely she put you on a junk hand with you just trying to steal the pot after the flop. i don't exactly agree with her calling your all-in, but as they say, that's poker. were you playing tight or loose before this happened?

Don't play poker with novices, play with moderately skilled players. Their actions are much more predictable.

you should play poker with whoever makes you the most money, not who is most predictable.

as to the Ops hand, there is a common phrase in poker called "don't make a bet that folds out worse hands but gets better hands to call"

This is poker. Bad bet happens all the time. Get use to it. But calling an all-in with dueces isn't the smartest move, maybe she felt deuce is coming.

eh. it happens.

I've won on hands that I went 100% blind in

(I was bored... wanted to throw my money away on one hand and leave the game, so I went all-in without ever looking at my cards. I ended up with a straight flush).

Maybe not a bad player? Only $20, maybe he thought you were bluffing and called wrong but got lucky anyways?

After the flop, the person who called me HAD A PAIR OF 2's!!
How many of you would stay in with a pair of 2's after the flop?
Almost everyone at the table was playing tight all night... once it went around the table to me with everyone checking, after a 10 4 2 flop, I went all in... I read their faces, actions, and behavior correctly... everyone folded, because no one had a thing (unless someone had 1 pair) After that flop, I had 2 pair... what are the odds of someone having 3 10's? or 3 4's at that point?

One person called me... and she had a friggin 7 2, giving her a pair of 2's. Yet, she folded earlier on far better hands... had been playing very tight all night, rarely staying in, unless she was high blind and the bets weren't too bad, or she had a good hand.

if shed been folding better hands all night long, she may have just felt like playing it. also, how was her stack? large, small? if i had a big stack and had a chance to put you out, i may have called. she may have thought you had two over cards or something.

And apparently the player he was up against was bad enough that he could expect to get called by a worse hand than top two, then apparently stacking off doesn't force out worse hands.

oh sorry. I thought she had the set on the flop.

IN that case, tell her what a great poker player she is, buy her beer, seduce her, do whatever you can to keep her playing next time.
