haha, what a clusterfuck... letting someone pay for yardsale crap with a cheque... LOL
you're both FAILURES.
you're both FAILURES.
Give her a time limit or else she'll keep dicking you around.
you'd be justified keeping the money and telling the woman that the items are hers to pick up whenever she wants to... but that's kind of a douche move.
if it were me, I'd take my lumps, return the money to her, and attempt to resell the items on craigslist. but I'd rather be nice than right.
I was thinking of telling her that we could try to sell both items again (through Craig's List or maybe a friend's yard sale), and if we can sell them for the same price, we can send her the money.
Just remember, a stopped check can come back to haunt your bank account later.
Just remember, a stopped check can come back to haunt your bank account later.
check can't be stopped 2 weeks after it's been cashed.
actually i seem to remember reading a thread where a company canceled a check even though its been cashed. they just took the money out of the guys account.
though it was a while ago and i can be insane.
hmm i swear someone h ere posted that a place put a stop payment on a check he cased 5 months latter. but everything i find says its not possible (wich would make sense) but man i am sure i remember reading t he thread!
I read that thread too, it was an insurance claim I think, that they canceled but said they would reissue later for some strange reason.
But this is ATOT so just because someone posted about it happening doesn't mean it really did.
if she's on disability she shouldn't have spent 125 dollars on stupid shit like a wishing well in the first place
what does beign on disability have to do with it? it does not mean you are poor it just means you can't work. from what i remember reading it does not limit how much assets and such you have.
Personally, I'd refund her the money and try to sell it again. My decision to do this would have nothing to do with the ethics of the situation, because my ethical views on issues like this generally go out the window when I know I am legally in the clear. I would refund the money because stupid people can make life very unpleasant for those around them when they know where you live.
