I think you need to use algebra to solve this problem:

you + Jon + C = apartment
apartment = A / (you + Jon - C)

therefore:

you + Jon + C = A / (you + Jon - C)
A = (you + Jon + C) (you + Jon - C)
A = you^2 + (you * Jon) - (you * C) + (you * Jon) + Jon^2 - (Jon * C) + (you * C) + (C * Jon) - C^2
A = you^2 + 2(you * Jon) + Jon^2 - C^2

Check my math, but I think it means that in other words, A's in control of the situation and you're fuked unless you put your foot down.
I'm not sure which is sadder: That you went through the trouble of typing that up, or that I went through it and checked the math.

Both. By the way, it's right.

man you guys are hilarious.

talk to C man. tell her that jon and you have problems with A and tell her to get the fvck out of you guys' apartment.

geez...once you started saying a, b, c, jon, blah blah i just stopped and read notes and then i still see you used variables so i scrolled down and saw a math equation and that somsone then checked it and its right. now i am just gonna go leave because a math problem doesnt solve roomate problems

take her keys.. send them to c.. talk to c and tell him that if she is going to be staying there he needs to keep her in check... and notify you guys if she is staying there without him (or anyone else) there
if c is not paying rent and problem continues, take c's keys and tell him to get out...
a should never have c's keys.. especially if she has her own place

Change your locks. Yes, I read you said you cant. Seriously though, how hard is it to talk to the landlord or whoever is in charge? Tell that person you have an intruder entering the apartment and that's the only way you can stop them...I'm sure they'll let you change the locks. I bet all they'll want is a key.

Lock your own bed room door everytime you leave the house. Keep expensive equipment inside your own room.
And don't over react on this door locking thing. The chance is slim to have a thief break into your apartment just because forgeting lock the door. that robbery in previous month is just a seperate incident. Do not link them together. Try to be nice with your room mate to make him understand your situation. Stop thinking that his girl friend doesn't pay the rent so she has no right(Just think that she is his wife and they both pay the rent to share the room, and you are only using him or her for this year so you can get your friend brother into this apartment next year). Give her the key and be nice to her. She will do the same in return. even if she does not , no big deal...............

this sounds strikingly familiar. my hs friend had a roommate that crashed their 4 house 24/7. she used all their hot water, gave him no privacy, and often blocked access to their parking space. solution? although they were hs friends, my friend and his housemates kicked him out the following year. theres no easy solution to your problem because you're bound to offend charles whatever you do. i say call charles and let him know that you and Jon are not comfortable having his girlfriend stay at your guyses place over the break alone and that you are concerned with her having leaving the door unlocked among other issues. table the issue until everyone comes back from break but until then tell him to instruct his gf to stay out.

Have sex with her and throw her out of your apartment naked. Make sure you get the keys first.

Take the keys from her, tell her she's not welcome there unless someone else is. If she refuses, inform the landlord that you and all roomies are going out of town for the weekend, so there's no reason to think anyone will be in the place. Then when your GF tells you someone is at your place you can call the cops on her and the landlord is going to have some clue what's going on. Probably piss off the room mate, but, meh. There's absolutely no reason for her to be there anyway since no one else is.

And if she's there 24/7, get the freeloading b!tch to start paying for stuff! She should cover food at the very least, if not a portion of the rent.

That's not true. People wander the halls during class times and at night in apartment complexes near campus to check for unlocked doors. There have been a surprising number of robberies here which is why we always lock our door.

You didn't get robbed. You got buglarized.... there is a HUGE difference. BTW, change the locks and tell her to stay out.

If i am to treat them as a married couple, i expect to pay less for the common areas (which is probably around 3/5 of the apartment space or more) and utilities since I am sharing that with a fourth person.

If she is not nice in return, there is a very good chance we will get burgluarized. In this area, there has been a recent string of burgluries, and in this complex alone, 3 have happened in the last month or two. Angela tends to leave the door open. This means that it'd be far easier to grab all of our stuff, including our big tv, grill, Charles's weight set and everything else downstairs in the living room.

As for locking my door, i can do that but that still means that the TV and many other electronics will still be downstairs in the living room. And i do not have space in my room to keep the TV.

Now i see the only issue is to ask Angela lock the door. she will certainly do that favor for Charlie since she is his girl friend. Ask Charlie to tell angela this, it is for your mutual benefit...

We've asked her multiple times. She agrees. Then she forgets. I do not want to have her accidently forget to lock the door because thats how we got burglurized last time
