Sarah Palin - she is really going to damage the republican campaign at this rate.

Washington Post has her linking Sept 11th terrorist attacks with Iraq. Even president Bush himself has rejected the terrorist link with Iraq, I guess nobody sent her "the memo".

She got the memo but it's 4 years old. It's from the bald face lies pile.

Where did she say Iraq was behind 9-11? At least not in the link you provided she didnt say that.

"Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

This seems to be a common theme for attacking Palin: take something she said, make implications, show that those implications are false, and then conclude that proves Palin was either lying or misinformed.

Nowhere does she say that Iraq was behind 9/11, but her comments were construed BY THE REPORTERS to mean just that, setting up an easy strawman for them to knock down.

And 4,000+ soldiers killed in Iraq due to insurgents doesn't qualify as "enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans"?

I'm not Iraqi or American but I would classify that as defending the country against an invasion

Technically, it's correct. Al Qaeda is in Iraq and we are fighting them in Iraq. Al Qaeda is responsible for 9/11.

You're right, QED, she's obviously not talking about the same Iraq to which they are being deployed; she's talking about some other country called Iraq which "planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

It's not my place to say what is correct, he asked where and I simply pointed out what the article implies.

Yes, you are absolutely right-- there aren't any people in Iraq who have been part of group responsible for 4,000+ American soldier deaths.

I never said they didn't, and I abhor when they do it, too. I've defended Obama quite a few times on this board when the right has made wrong implications based on words taken out of context.

The phrase "planned and carried out" implies 9/11, since what the Iraqis are doing are "retaliating", I mean you went there and I am not one to judge if you are wrong or right, but you invaded the country and they fought back, whatever their reasons are. Did they find WMDs?

Stop pretending you are dumb.

Are you really trying to say she was:
"telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans" ---who were the 4000+ soldiers already killed in Iraq.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what she meant.

:disgust:

How in anyway does that say Iraq was behind 9-11?

Because she says they are going to Iraq to defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans?

That's not really vague in the least, now is it?

But in no way did she say Iraq was behind 9-11. We are fighting AQ in Iraq right now are we not? And the Baath party hasnt been in power for 5 years. Who, if she was claiming Iraq was behind 9-11 we would be fighting.

This is another case of reading what you want to read and filling in the blanks. I dont see anything in that quote that claims Iraq is behind 9-11. She was saying they are going over there to fight Islamic terror organizations. Which is what they are doing.

Oh for the love of God!

Al Qaida in Iraq is a direct successor of al-Zarqawi's previous organization, Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad (Group of Monotheism and Jihad).

It is NOT the same Al-Qaida led by Osama Bin Ladin which is responsible for the attacks of 9-11.

You honestly did not know that?

Good point, I'm sure that there is not one member of the original Al Qaeda in Iraq....

See Genx87's post if you're still confused.

Yes, they are ... thanks to George Bush, who opened the door and let them in. Ignoring Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan.

I really like how McCain says he will "follow him to the gates of hell". I am more concened to see if he will follow him to Pakistan. =)

I am sure AQ just sends these letters to these groups for the hell of it.
