This is their job, what they guys in Uvalde failed to do. I have some issues with the veneration of the police generally especially post 9/11 not to mention that the entire reason this is necessary in the first place is that the country is basically addicted to firearms just like pain pills.

I knew some of the raw stats in the article, but others were new to me like the % of global total of civilian guns. Like other gun stats for the US, it's simultaneously jaw-dropping and not at all surprising. It would have been, 40 years ago.

I don’t think that’s the best argument to make.

Best argument is that the 2nd should be reinterpreted back to how it originally was before 2008 when it was perverted to mean the exact opposite of its original intention. The current interpretation no longer allows the state to protect itself or its people.

Seriously. People need to stop thinking "well, this time it'll be different." If Newtown and Parkland didn't move the needle, nothing will.

It is the risk we all take living in America in 2023. It is what it is.

So let's say we arm schools. What about grocery stores, theatres, concert venues, sporting events? How about we have an armed guard on every street corner in America? Just curious where the right thinks this line of thinking/solution takes us.

And I am 100% sure they will soon try to implement laws restricting what segments of the population can own guns or not. THAT kind of gun control, they will be all over it. Once you paint any segment of society as "evil" or simply as persona non grata - it is very easy to mobilize support to strip that segment of any rights they wish to. It's coming.
