YATCT: Which thermal compound?

So, I finally decided to reinstall my Arctic Cooler Pro on my Core 2 E6300, and replace the stock HSF I had lazily put on during my last upgrade. Low and behold, once I have everything cleaned and ready to go, my thermal compound is missing!

I was using a tube Arctic Ceramique from back in the AMD Barton days due to the exposed contacts on that chip (ceramique is non-conductive). Should I get some of that again, or is the newer Arctic Silver 5 any better? Or any other recommendations?

And don't you just hate it when your in the middle of something and missing a vital component, lol.

Ceramique will be fine, as long as the goop hasn't hardened. You can research up on the newer greases/pastes...mx-2 is great from what I hear...but if you want to put it together now Ceramique will do just fine.

If you're getting new paste, go with Arctic Cooling MX-2. It outperforms AS5 even after its cured, and is non-metallic and the same price.

I read an article that reviewed both AS5 and ASC very well done ove a week on each. Temps were cosistantly 1C lower with ASC. I don't/cannot seem to find the article. However I like the ASC as it is easier to spread. Aslo I use the rice gain method of application instead of spreading a thin layer. I seem to get better temps. I have yet to have any bubbles and I always have to twist the Heatsink to get it off the CPU.

Real descriptive considering they offer I believe 3 different types of thermal paste/grease. On top of that they are rather difficult to find an online reseller that sells their products and if you can't find a reseller the only place I know is from a forum user that sells them in bulk for I think $5 or something like that.

Lastly, Arctic Cooling MX-2 performs on par with Shin Etsu products and is much easier to find. I even think you get more of it.
