I don't see what that has to do with the question I asked.

Colored People.
People of Color.

Both mean exactly the same thing.
#341 and we decided we don't want to use a name created during the Jim Crow era just to describe black people.

I guess you can't understand that, either

Even Mitt Romney admits the Republican Party is racist. Didn't use the r word but admits their open association and support of white nationalism.

Asked this week about Tuberville’s defense of white nationalism and how it reflected on the GOP, Romney said: “Our party has lots of problems, add that to the list.”

I grew up when colored was standard for black Americans (and really didn't change until early teen age). My grandmother who grew up in South Boston VA called them nigras. I still remember to this day, living in the first house I grew up was one road between my white neighborhood, and the black neighborhood called Green Valley in Arlington, VA. Never saw one black person in my neighborhood. Up the hill by that same road was a playground. Curiously, there was another playground directly across the road. Well, me being like 4 1/2 to 5 years old (yea, I got to free range) thought, why was that perfectly good playground just sitting there not being used. So I go over there try out the swing. I later go home and innocently mentioned where I had gone. Oh my god, you would have thought I attempted to break into Fort Knox. That was the first time I learned that I was not supposed to ever go on that side of the road and that apparently there was something really bad about it.

He'll never understand it. His mind is permanently closed in the pre-civil rights era. He'll continue to make excuses for this country's racism and never take responsibility for any of it.

That's why he still thinks white people are not primarily responsible.

Don't call us "White People".

From now on we are to be called "People Of Whiteness".

People of whiteness have their share of blame as well as all other races. Not Binary.

Since white is a color, I'll call you colored people.

Oh that's right it's a phrase you people invented to refer only to people like me. Guess what Duke, you don't get a say when we label it inappropriate. Ref post #353

Nope. I don't like being called anything but what I want "People of Whiteness is it. YOU don't get a say when we label it inappropriate.

I'll change it again next week to something else to keep you off balance and that way I can label you a racist as if we didn't already know you were.

I'll be honest I was hoping he would think about what was posted above and reconsider his position. Obviously that isn't going to happen based on his latest rounds of replies.

So I guess we have our answer. (again)

The party of scumbags continues with this from the hill.

House Republicans eliminate funding to LGBTQ community centers after tense hearing

"It passed Tuesday in a 32-26 vote along party lines.

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus and one of 12 openly LGBTQ members of Congress, called the proposal “an embarrassment.”

“This amendment brings this committee to a new low,” Pocan said Tuesday during a markup of the bill. “The fact that you would take away members’ earmarks simply because they refer to the LGBTQ+ community is insane.”

“If you were to take away earmarks because they went to the NAACP or the Urban League, you would rightfully so be called racist bigots,” Pocan said. “But when you do it to the LGBT community, it’s another frickin’ day in Congress.”

Shameful mothereffers.🙄

I noticed he laughed at your post calling him out. He is an obvious weak minded troll. A lost cause. You would be better served to put him on ignore. Don’t let the losers pull you down into their mud. They will never change. Those of us who are normal, rational human beings appreciate you bringing items forward for honest discussion and thought to help move the country forward while truthfully acknowledging the past both good and bad.

Their only interest is stroking their own weak egos through willful ignorance, lies, and projection.

Only a Republican white boy with a complete lack of self-awareness would say this and nobody would call out his bigotry.

The white mayor of a tiny Alabama town less than an hour from Selma has argued he should be immune from a civil rights lawsuit, claiming that holding a secret meeting to keep the city’s first-ever Black mayor and five Black city council members out of office is not a sufficiently clear violation of constitutional rights.

BTW - This is the same state found guilty in court even up to SCOTUS of racist gerrymandering and defied the courts. But hey, everything is about race, right?

Colored People.
People of Color.

Words meaning the same thing IMO. Why is one bad and one good?

There's what @Brainonska511 said, but I think really with all these sorts of things it just comes down to historical usage. If a term has historically been used with a negative implication in bad contexts it becomes a negative term. Not sure there's a lot more logic to it than that.

I believe the second term was specifically coined to encompass groups who weren't "white" but weren't of-African-descent/black either (and, personally, I don't know that it works all that well, precisely because some genuinely get it confused with the older phrase, but I suppose they were a bit desperate for a way to refer to that wider group).

Republicans out to marginalize anything attributed to black people.

Let's be real, its not like Arkansas was a bastion of education, as their governor is ample evidence of. Plus imagine how much extra time they'll have to fuck their siblings and cousins, as their governor is ample evidence of.

People of Color includes more than just Black people. While Colored People refers only to those considered Negroes.

Rather than offer a long-winded explanation likely to be rejected by folks who dislike African Americans anyway, I'll simply post a link that goes into detail about the difference in the two terms:

As I've said before Homer JS, you do a great job advocating for us Black people.

Why People of Color and not Colored?

Its not black or white ok?

!HAH!

Imagine coming up white like this.

Seriously though, is that not where some of this sentiment is coming from? Telling poor white people they got privilege and be racist? Makes for an easy target when a Trump demagogue walks in the room.

This is what Republicans feel is behavior worth punishing.
Her true crime: Earls, the only Black woman on North Carolina’s high court, spoke out about racial bias in her courtroom. Her alleged misconduct was speaking to the media about how few clerks of color the court employed and how her colleagues treated certain attorneys, including a Black woman, who argued before them. For that, a Republican-stacked judicial “ethics” commission has gone after her. Its targeting of Earls could fulfill the wishes of the gerrymandered Republican Legislature by removing a tireless advocate of racial equality.

Judge Earls is fighting back. Republicans not only want to stifle discussions about racial bias in schools but in the public square. Don't have to hide their racism anymore.
