Yet Another Travel Thread...this time I'm working in Birmingham, AL every Thursday through Monday for the next 8 weeks. Anybody from there or live there? A buddy of mine grew up here so he sent me a list of places I should go see/eat/etc, but more would be expected.

Not only did the office decide to pick the one Asian on the team to go to Alabama...they also all know I'm a diehard Michigan Wolverine. It's going to be an interesting 2 months!

The Vulcan statue is pretty iconic, but most don't see it from that perspective. It does have a pretty interesting history though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_statue

I've heard that the food is actually pretty good here...I guess I'll have to research the usual sites to figure out where I want to go. I'm shooting for one meal at a restaurant every weekend I'm here, otherwise I'm cooking at the hotel. Shopping areas and good quality bars are welcome too!

Love beer! Thanks! If you know of any good beer/liquor retail stores, I'd really like to pick up some rare stuff too. I can stuff it into my luggage and check it every week so I can take home a good amount of stuff.
