I go into the game last night - and I'm in Ogrimmar at the AH....I'm a level 44 Tauren Druid, and I play pretty much every night...
a guy sends me a wisper - a lvl 50 Warrior that I've done a bunch of quests with, and he asks me if I want to go to Mauradon, that they need some help as the group was down to 3 people...so I say sure, I'll heal since I'm a bit low leveled for that place...I had been there a few days before as a healer in a group, so I knew what to expect....
I also check with a guy in my guild to see if he is interested - he's a lvl 53 hunter, and he says sure, so we get him in the group as our 5th...
so the group is a lvl 54 Shaman, a 50 warrior, a 53 hunter, a 46 warrior, and a 44 druid....when we finally get together, I ask what path we are taking, and the 50 says to the princess...then I ask what the rolling 'deal' is...he mentions that he would like to get the mace from the princess...and the Shaman says that the warrior can also use the mace, and I add that I can use a mace as well - though this mace in particular is a lvl 49 - after several back and forths, the general consensus was that rolling should be based on items you can use, and not something you are going to sell that you can't use..fine by me...we go on in.......we get beat a few times...once a patrol caught us off guard, the next time the princess got the best of us.....at this point it's been at least an hour and a half in....the 46 warrior says he has to go.....so after 15 minutes or so, a 53 warrior shows up....we get to the princess in a about 10 minutes, and with a better tank, she goes down rather easily...so the mace comes up for rolling - the hunter passed, the shaman rolls like a 16, the 50 rolls a 25, then the new guy rolls a 36 or something close to that....now I had considered not rolling if the 50 guy was going to win it, but since I can definetly use that mace when I get to lvl 49, and the guy who is in the lead now has been in the group for all of 15 minutes, I'm rolling...sure enough, I get a 72 and win the mace...and the 50 guy goes nuts..what are you doing, you can't use it, you don't even use a weapon, you are just going to sell it, etc, etc, etc...then the new guys chips in with "I've been trying to get that thing for a month"....
Now this is my first MMORPG, and maybe I'm not as well schooled in this type of situation, but was I that wrong to roll on it?
It is in the bank right now, and I fully plan on using it when I get to that level, hopefully late this weekend...I'm using a 2 hand staff right now, and I highly doubt I'll be able to get a better weapon by then
