i just had 2 wisdom teeth on my right side removed and just got home. the feeling is starting to come back - and i guess its starting to hurt - but the bleeding hasnt completely stopped yet. when i put in the new gauze pad it is immediately bloodied up

how long should the bleeding last for?

I MIGHT get an "emergency" removal of 2 wisdom teeth this weekend at my dental checkup. Doctor told me she could rip out the top 2 if I wanted cause it's "easier" than the bottom. My top right one has had a cavity in it for over 6 months now, and I don't want it filled. May as well rip it out since it keeps biting my cheek.

are you sure u wanna get 4 done at the same time? the pain im feeling on one side of the mouth is bad enough (with painkiller and all) although some good Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is taking my mind off of it as well. you probably have to eat yogurt, smoothie and soup a lot longer than if you did it on one side.

Man up. I had all 4 taken out at once and it wasn't that bad.

Anyone know any specifics on smoking after you get them out? I'm getting 4 of them out soon, and the sheet they gave me says 48hours after, but that seems kinda short.

just pretend they said 48 years and quit smoking!

i think they just want you not to do any sucking and spitting motion or you risk getting a dry socket when the bloody pulp dislodges from where you teeth were supposed to be

IF you smoke while it's not healed, you can kill that area, as the smoking constricts your circulatory system. Nothing smells better than dying flesh in a smokey mouth ! :disgust:

well yeah the operation itself isn't half bad at all. i actually thought the oral surgeon did a great job. but it was the swelling after the anesthetics had worn off. but the combination of painkiller and XBL Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is doing a great job to take my mind off of whatever pain i should be feeling

cost me 800 bucks today for 2 teeth but mainly because i was over on my non-cleaning insurance maximum for the year already. since i didnt go to my dentist for the removal they charged for the xray and exam fee. i dont know why couldnt my dentist just send over the info since he was the one that referred me. oh well. they told me i should wait till next year to remove the second set on the other side so i don't get charged full price, which would then be double. ($600 each tooth)

and it depends on where you are i guess. im in nyc everything cost more.

I'm trying to hold off another month or so for the semester break to have a molar pulled.

I broke the thing a couple of years ago, but without dental insurance, I opted not to spend the $3000-$3500 the dentist wanted to do a root canal and crown for it.

He ground the edges smooth and called it good.

I asked him to smear some of the temporary filling in the broken spot, but he said it'd be fine like it was...

Now, there's a hole in there deep enough to get its own cave designation, and it's finally getting into the nerve...

Aspirin and other OTC pain meds just don't quite do the trick for it anymore...but I've refused to take the "happy pills" my back doc has offered me, and I sure can't justify taking them for this. (although sometimes...)

Besides, I'm only a couple of weeks away from finals...I'm stoopid enough naturally, I really don't need the chemical help...

Not sure which exact one...upper middle molar...2 in front of the wisdom tooth is the best description I can give. Teeth below it are ok...worn out, but serviceable...

if you can use that tooth for chewing, it appears you can, then save it!

when you get that tooth pulled the teeth in front and behind it are going to move and tip into the space and really mess up your bite there.

i know it's hella expensive to go the root canal/crown root, but you should really consider it.
$3000-$3500 is a wicked high estimate. The root canal should run you a grand and the crown the same. (and these are max estimates)

call other dental offices and ask what a root canal/crown on an upper molar would cost.

Chewing on that side has been suspended indefinitely...:Q

The evening I had a piece of torilla chip lodge in there was the deciding factor...

(gotta remember, I'm in Kahleeforneeya...land of high prices...I don't mind if the assholes want to retire, but I do object when they think it should all come from me!
