As I've mentioned in a couple credit threads, I have a collection that I've been paying on. I was shocked when I found out the account hadn't been paid, and I was just 18 and didnt know anyting about it so I just set up payments instead of disputing or negotiating a pay for deletion (I do know the collection was valid though)
2 years later, I just called the agency to make a lump payment to close the account. I go through that ,and at the end I ask the rep if theres anything they could do to help me get it deleted. Much to my surprise they said sure!
Apparently, in about a month after everything's updated, I need to dispute the collection with the agencies. When they contact my collector to show that it is a valid collection, they'll tell them that its old and settled and to delete it. Awesome!
So in a couple months I should be back to my flawless credit rating, which should jump up by about 100 points!
