Yea..... I knew mall markup was ridiculous, but not THIS ridiculous.

Rare metals are only created in the extreme temperatures only found when a super massive star goes supernova. This rarely happens hence the rarity. To have a piece of that rare metal around your finger is just cool IMO.

Yeah, so are most elements heavier than iron...

Just tie a string around her finger to remind her she belongs to you, like they did in the olden days. Saves a fortune.

my ring cost me $50. i'm not even sure what it's made of. titanium or carbide or something.. we got it at a local jeweler in conjunction to the then fiancee's custom setting. i even lost it once and they replaced it for free.

then again.. check this tanga link out from today
https://www.tanga.com/deals/titanium-rings

lol.. even better - from slickdeals. use code TWORINGS to get 2 for price of 1!

My wedding is costing about $6000 ish not counting the rings for that cost. Otherwise add in another $2605 for the price I paid in total for 3 rings ($5 mine, $650 band, $1850 engagement). I only have about 50 guest though. Nothing overly extravagant.

LOL. You just reminded what I told my spouse when we got married. I remember being slightly ticked off that the wedding band she choose was like $4,000 from Tiffany's so I demanded that my wedding band have as many or more diamonds all around it too or I'd refuse to wear it.

I got a fancy watch as a gift instead.

I have a TC ring with 18k inlay. Best of both worlds. Toughness of TC, still inexpensive, but with the symbolism of gold.

You guys sure like to live it up. For my second wedding, I got married by Elvis in Vegas. I gave her a ring pop for a wedding ring, dressed in a tuxedo t-shirt, and asked my guests to bring their own pizza for the reception. We did spurge and get a ride from our room at the Gold Spike in the pink Cadillac though. Total cost was $500 not including the cost of the t-shirt.

Keep in mind, that's lodging for about 50 or so of our guests. We asked for a small donation from people staying with us at the lodging to help cover the expense seeing as most people who come to weddings from out of town have to pay for their own lodging anyway. This place didn't cater to weddings, mostly family reunions and other large group functions.

So, we made up a large portion of the initial cost to us with the donation box as people were fairly generous in their contribution to lodging.

Edit: Shameless promotion for the jewelers we got our rings from. http://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/65169330/matching-set-14k-white-gold-damascus?ref=shop_home_active

That's the set we opted for, only I do not have a white gold inlay, instead I have an indented groove with nothing (cost less, looked a little more masculine in my opinion).

My ex bought me a tungsten ring. I really like it but I can't ever wear it in case I randomly see her around lol.

Yeah, OP; I always buy my precious metals for strength and in malls with 12 and 13 year old kids running about.
