Yes Finally a Machine

I finally get to build a new Monster! I'm running a 2000+ POS right now I'm moving to a DELUXE apartment on the eastside! YES we moving on up!!

Anyway here's what I'm looking at. Fell free to give me input if you think I should change anything for what ever reason.

MotherBoard DFI Lan Party NF4 SLI-DR (just incase I SLI in the future)
Antec TruePower TP-II 550
AMD 3700+ San Diego (going to OC the SH!& out if it if possible)
Thermalright XP90
1 gig OCZ Platinum (single stick)
EVGA 7800 GTX
Plextor PX-740A DVD RW


I'm up in the air on a hard drive, but looking at a WD.
Not sure of the case yet either but looking at the Aerocool AreoEngine (because is looks like jet intake, plus it's got to move some air with a fan like that)

On screen that looks like a really bitch'in rig. I hope is smokes. Going to be killing some BF2! Anything I should change or look at a little closer?

I sugged modstream or neopower.
maybe downgrade to an x800xl or 6800gt and oc to ultra speeds. so you can get 2gigs of ram
that dvd drive is expensive nec dvd drivers are good and so are benQ.
as far as hd's seagate/samsung/hitachi all good

Thanks going to rethink the Plextor and WD drives.

Should I go with 2 gig of cheaper ram? The OCZ stuff is pricey.

If I had spare money to afford something like that, I probably would spend 200 bucks on games and just stay home for like 3 days straight. I think I know why I get mid-range systems... but you can still play titles under 2004, which I guess doesn't make any sense, but I dont' want to get spoiled over a 7800 system. So I just stick with cheap stuff. Sounds stupid, but only the budget users would understand.

1) With the single stick, you lost 5% performance. I'd rather get 2 sticks. Also Talking practically, SLI is not a good upgrade option because who knows. Maybe the bios will change for that 7800GTX and you will have to update the Bios manually, or send the card back.. Finally, your getting the DFI board, but not winbound chips.... I'd rather get the MSI Neo4 SLI, which is 130 dollars. This motherboard has creative sound, SLI, and 2.85 volts which should be neough with the memory you have. Here is what I would change.

1) MSI Neo4 SLI

2) 2x OCZ performance (these aren't going to get any cheaper. Ram is rising in price)
3) NEC 3540A (your CD/DVD drive should be a soso drive. Better spend it on more FPS )

Should only cost you a little more. Also, I would suggest the 3000+ Venice and a dual core upgrade in the future, but if you want to get the Sandiego, thats fine too.

So your saying do not get a SLI motherboard or do not get a 7800GTX? Why would I not be able to upgrade the bios? On the motherboard or video card? So I should run 2 512mb sticks. I'll need to check the price but I maybe able to get 4 512mb sticks of OCZ gold for about the same price.

I linked to a SLI mobo. I'm takling about the Bios on the video card. Finally,just stick with 2x OCZ performance, as 2gb is needed by BF2....
