I actually like that rendering and lighting of theirs a lot.I hope the trailer was just a proof of concept of where they want to go. I'm intrigued, but the visuals are too cartoony, too animated, to flat. They don't look good.
Good. Last I checked, someone already made Total Annihilation. This doesnt "feel" like Total Annihilation... sorry it just doesnt.
Nope. You essentially can't protect game IP beyond names and assets. They could put in exact same mechanics as TA has and not get sued.I get the feeling the reason is, they dont own the IP for the series and had to come up with some slightly differnt name / gameplay differnce (so they dont get sued).
They explicitly say there will be a range from large planets to asteroids. They also mentioned "12 hour, 40 player games" being a possibility. It's not going to be "small 3D globes" only. I wouldn't be surprised if they put in some flat maps where you can't launch into space. If not, there's modding. And the solution was to have planet jumping, and the battle being fought out on small 3D globes, instead of a flat plane like the orginal one was.
When I first played TA, I hated it.
After I played a while, it became my favorite RTS ever.
You guys remember those insane air unit battles?
man that was hard on your CPU.
*scratches my head*
i thought the sequil to TA was supreme commander original?
supreme commander 2 was a joke... well beyond joke... but the original supreme commander did do Justice no?
Yeah it was good, lacked a lot of under the hood stuff though. It needed:
- DX11 for better multithreading, the games about 1000's of units fighting but it bogs down too easily
- 64 bit, for more than 4gb of ram
- Plus better multiplayer, gpg.net was balls
Supcom 1 was excellent
I'm really hesitant about this because it's Uber. There's a lot of good concepts here, but I can't help but feel some free to play model will be incorporated and I'm concerned with how "streamlined" it might end up.
