This item is for a wholesale list (unit), not an actual gateway unit, which means to me, he got it somewhere from wholesale and is selling it at wholesale list price, not directly from gateway..

You could easily take this auction this way.

And I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you as well. Only $999, you get the whole bridge.

At the bottom of the auction he states, "You may ask yourself "how can this guy sell so many of these for so cheap" Its simple. I am a retailer that buys in quantity and counts on bidders to raise the price to something reasonable. Good luck Bidders!" It looks like he is selling a laptop.

Nope, he's scamming people. He's advertising it, how much better can you scam someone than with all of that. I know that if someone didn't point that out to me, I wouldnt notice. Something should be done to him, because what he's doing is completely wrong.

Easy; tell him you need his address to send him a certified check, then show up with a baseball bat.

"I've got some oceon front propery in Arizona......If you'll buy that I'll throw the Golden Gate in for FREE!!"

This guy needs to be slapped in the face with a big, dead frozen trout. Obviously he's trying to con someone into thinking there getting the laptop, he doesn't even mention the list, except where it's buried in all his hard to read text. What a line of BS

Haha. I emailed the high bidder and eBay too. I got this message from eBay: "Email on this item has been sent though this item was already reported"

Good!

I have seen people selling PS2's and XBOX BOXES and not the actual unit, but in the description up top it usually says BOX ONLY.

This guy is a total ^#@*&#@!

Straight from the asses mouth:

I can get away with it. If people bid, it is not ebay's problem. It is the
neglegent bidder's problem.

So... anyone want me to post full headers?

I emailed him with this:

>You can't get away with selling wholesale lists on ebay for $500.
>
>I have promptly reported you to safeharbor.

Anyone want to add the guy's email to some unscrupolous lists heh.

I totally agree that the seller is a scumbag, but when the Xbox "just the box" auctions were being discussed here a while back, the majority of the posters here blamed the buyers for being too stupid to read the entire auction description. The usual statement was something like "If they are too stupid to read the description, they deserve to be ripped off".

I wonder what the difference is this time.

There, it said XBox box.

Here it says it in one line in the middle of a long paragraph.

The difference here is that when the boxes were being sold, multiple times in huge letters the buyer was warned that this is not the actual console unit, just the box that it came in. In this case, no large lettering. No bolding. No different colors. He stashed it into that huge list purposely to deceive the buyer into thinking it was a normal PC. Not only that, he also listed it under a computers section, and the auction title clearly shows laptop specs, therefore heavily implying that he is selling a real computer.

When he lists another auction like that, I am going to use my eBay account to bid $10,000 on it and then I am going to use a fake account to bid $10,100. hehehe, hes going to have a high Final Auction Value fee =P

What one of you should do is email him and request like 200 laptops @ $500 each, see what he says.

If that fails, you can always list him in a Men Seeking Men ad

PM me if you want his email addy.

What a moron. Looks like he'll be done ripping people for awhile though. I wonder what will actually end up happening to this guy though.

Somehow I don't think it's him that's the moron.
Sure he is, granted, people should read the fine print - but there is no indictation except for that measly little sentence that the auction is not for a laptop.

So, I sent the alleged slimeball an email, simply asking him how he could sleep at night. His reply:

I really dont know how i sleep at night. Knowing there are people in the world who enter legally binding contracts without reading all the information is pretty disturbing...but its the way the world is. I have to learn to live with it. Later dude.

No joke. Ever heard of a thing called the UCC? It prevents this sort of crap. If you think he acted in good faith and conscionably, you need to take a break from the p00ter and step outside.
