Bigfoot, sorry taking so long to respond to your post. I did not feel the need to clarify the topic since the subtitle says it looks like it might be a one day deal and since then there have been sufficient links to enable anyone to read what the deal is. To be honest I could not give more details earlier because none of the links re when the sale was and what was included worked. What u see in the linked page is all there was to go by. I still do not know what is on sale when. But, u were also rude in implying I was lying by your sarcastic remark re the elusive email.

(Since Bekker took the time to address me I will make a last exception to reply to him...)

Common man, really? You dont think its important to tell anyone the deal started tomorrow? FranksAndBeans' wonderful link provided that info and I know you read it, and all you had to do was use the EDIT option on your post. The email remark was a joke. I honeslty believed you got the email, but I was a little anoyed because you made such a vague deal post compounded with a link to the item at near full price. If they had a TONGUE IN CHEEK face I would have used it- lol. (and no- a "sticking out a tongue" face would have not been the same as a "tongue in cheek" )

OKay, all is forgotten and a truce declared, so fogetit man.

This seems like a great deal, this is the cheapest 37 inch lcd that I have seen. Can't seem to find much review of this set though..I was also looking at the 37 inch olevia for around $829 from amazon and others.

Anyone know how this TV stacks up to the olevia?

I am not sure it even is a deal since I cannot find any mention of it on the Sears site.

Its definitely a deal, I got the same email. I'm looking at the specs and it seems this Toshiba is a little less in the brightness and contrast. Just looking for opinions on whether that matters, for example, I have read numerous places that the difference between 768 and 1080 resolution is not really perceivable by the naked eye..

I also got the email but when links are followed they show regular price. Will try again. Have you been able to actually get anymore info than was in the email?

Update

I have been on the phone to Sears in two cities and neither has the slightest idea what the deal is because they show the tv as still being about 1500. One contacted Sears headquarters and they also know nothing about it according to one source. The other place I called is also contacting corporate to see what the deal is. So far, according to Corporate, the email is a fraud.

Please post anything you find out and thanks.

As far as I can see from the detailed header info, the email did come from Sears. I think someone there just screwed up (maybe on purpose). The item is now inaccessible at their site.

I eceived the same email, the header said "one day of savings-tommorrow only"

Received Friday which would indicate the sale was Sat. On a deal site I frequent someone posted that it was a mistake and the sale was actually on Sun.

I finally heard back frtom a Sears mgr who checked with corportate and got to the bottom of it. The email is correct and the deal is on, BUT it was mailed a day early, so Sunday is the day. He says that quantities are limited and all must be ordered online for home delivery.

What a mell of a hess due to a simple emailing timing error. Good luck to any who want to get it.

nope- yer not doing anything wrong- OP just posted a deal that doesnt actually exist in anything except an elusive email he supposedly got...

Take the bigfoot and stick it in your mouth.

pwnage

you guys are stupid, If OP had posted that the deal started tomorrow in the first place, which that link clearly states (and I am sure the email did too), then I would have never posted a reply in the first place, so can it.
ps- OP please update your thread title or head post that this "deal" starts tomorrow to avoid others taking issue with this thread.

What's it like being one of those people who can't laugh at themselves?

You made a witty remark at the OP's expense... and it ended up biting you in the ass, you weren't wrong at the time, but in retrospect you were. Calling us stupid hardly seems warranted. Don't give unless you can take, otherwise next time maybe you shouldn't post one way or the other.

that said, any comments on the tv

Double Drawer Dishwasher that's cool. Although even at the $1,239.99 sale price I could get two full sized dishwashers side by side.

and just for the record people, there is no restocking fee if you return everything in its original packaging. The only way there would be a restocking fee would be if you didnt have the original packaging, or didnt have the remote or something like that.

There are a couple of reviews on newegg and cnet. It does not have an hdtv tuner also it is not 1080p. Haven't really looked at lcd tv (beyond sharp and sony) so can't comment on quality et all but for the price it might be ok. My guess is industry is moving to 1080p and prices will reflect that move...

Nothing is moving to 1080p except videogame systems and HDDVD/BluRay, and even then it's questionable whether you'd notice the difference on those mediums in a 37" TV.

Search around for an old voom hd sat box. Voom is no longer but the boxes work with OTA HDTV
