If yellow slices are made from oil, then it should be illegal to call it cheese. Cheese it is not.

Ha... that was one of my first thoughts. I wish someone could confirm/disconfirm whether or not there is any actual dairy product in McDonald's cheese.

My favorite part is where they immediately called the McDonalds. How many people have the phone number to McDonalds avaliable? This is a total scam, what a load of crap.

Normally I would agree, but the story said they called the exact restaraunt they came from and apparently, could find the number in their "darkend room".

This dude needs to get together with that other dude that tried suing the dry cleaners for over 60 million. I'm sure they'd make good book ends for court.

People get greedy when a big corporation is involved..now if the guy had actually died, that'd be different.

That being said...McDonald's sucks almost completely at getting your order right (and they don't understand English at the one by my house and the one by my work)...my friend was visiting and all he wanted was mustard on it, nothing else, we told the cashier, watched them tell the guy making it...he takes a bite while we are driving away- they put everything BUT mustard in it.

There is one decent McDonald's by the 15/Walmart, if it's not ready in the drive-through in a minute and half, you get a free hamburger on the manager (they give you a redeemable card).

Yeah, except for actually looking at the burger before eating it.

Seriously....who just dives into their food first without looking at it? I'm talking fast food here.

I don't like pickles, but a good percentage of the time they put them on burgers anyway. So to avoid a bite of pickles, I always look first, so I can remove them if the employee forgot.

Personal responsibility is getting raped here.

Yep, EVERY single time before I open the burger wrapper, I decide "do I want to eat the pickle today?". I can't even remember the last time I bit into pickle and was surprised since I usually flip up he bun and wipe off the onions and pickles 90% of the time. I had a buddy order a burger at Burger King with no onions or pickles; he got onions and pickles, and I got his no onions and pickles after I checked. The stuff is unreliable to "fine-tune" your orders at fast food joints, and I know it. Where the hell is responsibility anymore?

It's not a matter of personal responsibility anymore though. It's a matter of going after money from the big corporations.

Once upon a time, they decided it was cheaper to settle these stupid cases out of court, rather than to take the case to trial. In my opinion, those previous decisions are one of the things fueling all these lawsuits. i.e. short term, it may have saved them some money, but long term, it's costing all of us a lot of money.

There was a thread recently where a lady spilled oil in a grocery store and faked a fall. She should be made an example of, just like the cut off finger people and anyone else caught scamming like that to make $$.

Ok - so since the person got into a close to fatal situation, McDonalds should definitely pay for the medical bills and maybe a bit more for emotional issues; however,
10 million dollars is totally whack.
People need to stop with these retarded lawsuits over little things

All the more reason to sue.

Who said McD' cheese is oil based? That's just silly. It's the same as kraft singles.

QFT

Seriously, I love owning people who claim that their lactose intolerance is an allegery.

This just reaks of a setup.

"By my count, he took at least five independent steps to make sure that thing had no cheese on it," Houston said. "And it did and almost cost him his life."

That right there says they're full of it. WTF is 5 independant steps?

Step one - see if there is cheese
Step two - see if there is cheese
Step three - ???
Step four - eat it anyway
Step 5 - PROFIT!

One cout of intentional inflection of emotional distress? Where is there any intention? When you have a food allergy it is YOUR responsibility to take care of it. And that means don't eat food you don't make or carefully inspect. If you die, that's darwin talking.
