Yet another UPS rant

This time I've had it with these rat bastards. Bought an MSI motherboard from Mwave and paid the extra money to have it shipped 3 day "select" so it would arrive by the weekend. Could someone possibly explain why it took an ENTIRE DAY to move from the airport to a warehouse and then why it took 17 hours to travel 3.5 hours from Dallas? I'll be using FedEx from now on since these idiots won't deliver on Saturday. At least with FedEx I could make a trip tomorrow to the local warehouse to pick it up. :|

You mean they suck thorougly? Yes their tracking system is very good, but their service fees is one of the worst, as far as cross-border Canadian shipping goes.

The reason UPS sucks so bad is the TEAMSTERS. Plain and simple. Fed-ex is non-union. Those guys can get fired. They have some sort of fear of losing their jobs if they don't do it right. UPS workers have no worries of losing their jobs unless they steal or continually screw up. When I was in managment over there the union would promote doing the least amount of work possible and stretching it out over as long of an amount of time as possible. Don't hate UPS, hate the Teamsters. I do.

I have been tempted to order from Mwave on more than a couple of occasions, yet I always seem to end up using Newegg or Googlegear. Aside from the UPS issue, let me know how this works out. I also am curious about Monarch Computers. I have ordered from Axion Tech with very good results.

I've ordered from Mwave before, though it's been a year or two. They were excellent back then, and I had no problems this time. In fact, I was fairly impressed because they initially denied my credit card because AMEX had screwed up my address in their records (changed a number of my street address to a letter -- weird). Anyway, a quick call to Mwave after I received the email cleared up the problem, and I had the sale go through (with notifying email) in about one hour from the phone call.

Of course, if the mobo is dead, and they won't give me my money back, I'll let you know.

UPS does most of its package-moving at night. Also, are you sure it was put on a plane? This isn't FedEx we're talking about here... the UPS ground network is 10 times better. Unlike FedEx, UPS doesn't need planes for most of its 3 Day packages.

Probably for the same reason as above.

Maybe you shouldn't be so eager. After seeing how late they got it on the 26th, I wouldn't have expected it to come on the 1st. So, expect the package to get there on Monday. Suck it up.

And you think FedEx does? Both FedEx and UPS charge $10 for Saturday Delivery and it must be used with an overnight service.

I NEVER use UPS and will not even buy from anyplace that does.

Ive had them get a package into a depot 10 miles from here and then sit on it for 3 days so they didnt deliver it early !!!!!! Pay for 5 day delivery and god forbid any better service. This was one time their excelent tracking service showed them up!!

If by now we all know how bad UPS is then WHY do SOME of us still BOTHER to use UPS?

I just don't bother using UPS at all. All my problems are solved with delivery. I've not needed anything that couldn't wait a few days to arrive anyway.

Ok, I'm going to have to go with "isolated incident" on this one. If you pay for 3 Day Select and it only takes 2 days to get there... you're going to get it in 2 days. From what I'm hearing on the boards, FedEx will hold your package if it gets there early. I'm not saying UPS is better because of this. FedEx apparantly has lower rates than UPS now, so you get what you pay for.

Considering it was GUARANTEED 3 day, I don't think I'm expecting too much.

The FedEx drop-off point is open on Saturdays -- I could go and pick it up (done that before). Why don't you STFU?

Some vendors don't give you the choice -- that's one reason. This time, I just didn't really think about it until they screwed up.

It made the longest part of the trip in one day and then took TWO days to just arrive nearby in the same city. That's what baffles me. On the FedEx thing, I have paid for 2 day delivery and had it arrive overnight (within 20 hours of my phone call to NEC actually).

At least I get my $12.71 back.
