Not the fucking kettles!

Keep in mind too that the US is very different depending on what part of the country you are in, what state in that part of the country, what city in that state and what part of that city. NS1 in Los Angeles lives in a totally different world than I do in Grand Rapids.

What? ()

You'll never know the glory of a rapidly boiling kettle with your inferior, wimpy foreign electricity. :sneaky:

Yeah, I think its the more extreme cases that get thrown up sometimes that make me twitch. Like when I hear about Sheriffs in Texas that seem to have their own little fiefdoms. Its things like that when I realise that I don't fully understand America.

I live here and don't claim to understand. I've been lucky enough to travel a bit and I have fun learning all the little things that are different in different places. Ohio has drive in liquor stores!

See this is the future, I knew you guys could do it!

That said you'd be pissed off if you were behind my car and I spent my usual amount of time choosing which booze I wanted. It would make you turn to drink so it would. :awe:

I shall stick to getting my booze delivered.

lil rudeguy found a sweet looking mouse he wanted

*snip*

Off topic, but what OS do you have? If it's Win 8 there are problems with gaming mice....they limited the max polling rate to 100hz or something stupid. There is a fix for it, but I don't' think many people realize the issue exists (or don't know why their new fancy mouse sucks so bad).

Pretty sure that was fixed in a windows update months ago

You know, when I went out and about today I saw FedEx and UPS trucks making deliveries. But nope Lonestar Overnight delayed delivery of packages in DFW. I wonder if they are going to make an attempt tomorrow since tomorrow AM will be Icy and there is snow in the forecast tomorrow night.

It wasn't, they added some partial fix that allows you to set a higher polling for specific apps, but then you have to manually add each program but it doesn't work for certain ones or any of the basic windows and desktop stuff.

I know because I literally just built a gaming system with a fancy mouse and was having obvious issues. Took a while but I figured it out and applied the registry hack thing (I think it's a modification of the partial fix from MS) which removed the polling limit from everything. No more problems.

I don't game, so I don't have any clue what you are talking about. I just buy shiny stuff.

MS suddenly decided that all mice should be utter garbage so applied a software update to massively limit the performance of any and all high quality mice. Think of it like the frame rates for games. MS said "Hey now, 60-120Hz gaming takes a lot of computational resources and produces a lot of heat...we think we know whats better for everybody so we are going to force a hard lock refresh of 15hz for everything". As you can imagine this would make the experience terrible and stuttering.

This is almost exactly what they did to mice. The polling rate is how quickly the mouse updates its position, it affects the accuracy and smoothness of the pointer and movement. In the case of games where your view is locked to the mouse it's super slow jittery movement looks like some kind of a performance problem or error. As I mentioned, it also significantly affects the accuracy, in most games that's an issue...in some it makes them near unplayable.

Back to the topic of grocery delivery - my wife spends a good hour or so planning dinner for the week from the circular and then spends nearly 2 hours every Sunday at the supermarket lugging about 15+ bags home. Instead, she can pick out whatever on Peapod while at work (she's an IT admin so you can imagine how busy she is) and then it shows up at our door, for a nominal $7 fee (after spending nearly $200).

But noooo... she feels like she has to see everything on the shelves in case there are things she missed.

mmm Prime

Figure if we do end up having to pay tax here in MI, my bet is Amazon will soon have a distribution center down at Metro airport. Maybe even some love for Grand Rapids if OP is really lucky.

(but damn! if I could get fresh groceries too? yesssssss - all my shopping could be done pantsless :awe: :sneaky

Ordered a dremel multi tool blade thingy on Sunday. At checkout it said it would be delivered on Tuesday by 8 pm. Nothing came yesterday. Still shows in transit on their site. I just fired off another email to Amazon asking for another $10.00 credit.

Seriously, what is their problem? They seem to be having problems getting the orders fulfilled and in my hands on time for a service I paid for. I wanted to do some grout removal last night and needed this 1/16th inch wide tool and its not here.

Bored of prime. It always made me feel like I needed to order more to justify the cost of it. Haven't had it in a couple years and I honestly don't miss it. The prices aren't any better than b&m anymore either.

Yes.. As of last night, it was "In Transit" but not out for delivery. This morning it shows it arrived at my local hub and probably in an hour will be "out for delivery". Still a day late...

I think the prices are still better than local b & m and the selection is also far greater than anything local I have access to.
