Speaking of premium shipping options, I've become a bit of a fan of Newegg Premier. One nice benefit is that Premier actually pays for your return shipping costs, which Amazon does not do. So, if you absolutely know that you want something, Prime is great, but if you're a bit hesitant... I hope you enjoy getting hit with high shipping fees that cannot be combined for multiple returns.
Well, it's kind of weird, because there doesn't seem to be a clear delineation on what items are deliverable on Sunday and which aren't... or at least I haven't seen anything. Typically, when I order something, it will give me an option for Saturday (for a fee) or Monday (2-day), but sometimes, I'll get Sunday (2-day).
Only if you need things right away and can't get $35 for the free shipping. I liked the fast shipping but it would save me $0 since I bundle my orders. And I've made over 30 orders since last year. One negative with Prime is that it makes you spend money to buy something you ordinarily wouldn't have bought... since hey, you're paying to have free shipping and you'll have it by clicking a few buttons. I experienced that feeling first hand when I had Prime.

Prime Pantry is all but worthless. How totally useless do you need to be to buy your groceries online? Even if their inventory covered all of the packaged foods you can buy locally (it doesn't) you can't buy 1/2 the things you normally buy at a grocers, like dairy products, produce, meat, fish and poultry.
and bundling items to get the free shipping with $35 minimum isn't having the same effect on your purchasing items that you don't need?
This argument sounds counter-intuitive.

You could make the same argument about Amazon in general. Why buy anything there when Walmart and Best Buy will price match? See how stupid that argument is?

Best Buy can't touch the selection of Amazon, nor their prices. And if I can buy something at the local Walmart, I usually will, as pricing will be comparable. But that doesn't touch on all the other product areas where Amazon is superior in both selection and price to all of the local retailers combined.
However, Prime Pantry just doesn't cover much ground. I have at least a dozen local grocery stores within ten minutes of home, in a not very large city. I can easily buy anything that Prime Pantry carries, plus fresh foods that they don't. Even among the goods that they do carry, their selection is poor.

Weird.
You say that like grocery delivery is an unusual thing. Now I cant speak for the US (but I doubt its that different to the UK in this instance) but every major grocery chain here does online ordering and delivery.
Theres nothing better than ordering all your groceries on your smartphone from work and everything turning up half an hour after you get home.
You silly brit!
Grocery delivery is much, much less common in the states. It's one thing I will admit you all do much better than us.
Really? I'd have thought you guys would have been much better than us at that what with the liking eating and not wanting to get off the sofa thing...
Seriously though I thought that you lot had delivery everything?
You have to remember that our cities are much more spread out than yours. I live right in the city and the closest grocery store is 3 miles away. Its not nearly as easy to deliver here as it is there where everyone is tightly packed.
Michigan.
HTF do you live "right in the city" with no market for 3 miles? I got 5 in a 3 mile radius.
oh yeah, that's right...

It was fairly common in the US sixty or so years ago, when most people lived in or near cities and towns. Now, we're far too spread out and everyone owns two cars. If you drive to and from work and don't drive past at least four grocery stores here, it's pretty unusual.

What about the being able to buy booze pretty much anywhere? We do that quite well to. :awe:
if there is one thing the US is not short on, it's liquor stores.
