Yes. Money to buy a sports car does not equate to intelligence. They won't be missed.

I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I witnessed the whole thing.

IT WAS NOT BEN'S FAULT!!! THE ORGANIZER HAD PICKED THE 150MPH ZONE AS THE ENTRANCE TO THE TRACK AND THE F-CAR DRIVER PULLED IN FRONT OF HIM NEAR THE END OF THE STRAGHT. THERE WERE NO CORNER WORKS AND NO FLAGS!!! HE TRIED TO AVOID HIM AND SPUN OUT AND HIT THE WALL AT NEARLY THAT SPEED.

The passenger died instantly on impact. Ben was airlifted to the hospital, but still had a pulse when they took him so PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

Here we go again. Obviously you're jealous of other people's success. Let's all rip on the rich again.

This is common place here.

wow. just wow.

MIKE

The guy was participating in what he knew is a dangerous sport and he died. I don't criticize him for participating, but I don't see why I should feel bad for him.

Let me rephrase: thousands of people die every day, and I feel no sadness for them because I did not know them. This guy is not special, you people only care about him because he had a fast car. That makes me sick.

It's a point of reference or connection. Many people here like fast cars and admire/appreciate people who have them.

Let's put it this way. If you died tomorrow, you might think that no one would give a damn except for your friends and family. But, I can bet you that a lot of people on this board would be upset about your death and grieve for your loss. Why? B/C we all might have had some kind of connection with you. It may be just be a message board, but it is our point of connection and I feel that we all are one big family around here.

PS: Please don't die tomorrow!

I've read some posts in other forums by the driver of the GT. He had a baby girl, who is probably about a year old.

What happened was a Ferrari was in the pit waiting for his turn to enter the track. The pit manager told him to go but the Ferrari driver hesitated. So then the pit manager told him to wait, but the Ferrari driver went anyways. The guy driving the GT swerved to avoid him and couldn't regain control of the car. The passenger was a guy who was interested in buying a GT so he asked the driver for a lap around the track.

Sad story. Yes I agree it's a dangerous sport and what not, but at the same time, what happened was really not the driver's (and definitely not the passenger's) fault. So I think it's appropriate to feel badly for them and their families.

Before anyone says anything EXCESSIVELY stupid, he was trying to avoid a collision that comes down to p!ss-poor event planning. The 150mph+ zone ran in front of the track entrance, which was unattended. Another driver made an entrance at exactly the wrong moment, and the guy cratered himself, his passenger, and his car avoiding a collision. 33.33333% survival rate. Not bad, considering the circumstances. At those speeds and in a car like that, you're literally riding a missile. There's only so much correction you can *DO*.
