YMMV : Best Buy clearing out older Klipsch Synergy speakers...

Best Buy has the newer Synergy models on the floor. This means that they have reduced prices on all older model Klipsch Synergy speakers.

Sealed boxes are marked down, you will have to get assistance from salesperson to see the lower prices.

Floor models are selling as open box. This week, Best Buy has an additional 20% off all open box audio merchandise.

Here is what I found at my local store.

Klipsch SF-3 Floor models ($349 each new) - $519 - 20% = $415 for the pair. (40% off MSRP)

I also picked up a SC .5 center channel for $80 and a pair of SS-1 surrounds for $179

Also, there is 18 months no interest with your Best Buy card.

Once again, this is a YMMV deal as each store will be different.

Not a bad deal at all, although I don't consider %20 to be a decent discount for floor models. Floor models are basically run almost nonstop everyday, I hate to imagine what that does to the reliability and lifecycle of the product by the time someone buys it. I don't understand why Bestbuy doesn't mark the price off more on things like that.

i went in to pickup a set of those, and i wanted the SF3's as well, ended up walking away with the new model speakers, the 3's for fronts and 1's for the rest..

i was waiting for awhile and he gave me prices on the old model and he came out (manager) later and said he fcked up and they didnt have any in stock of the sf3's, so he gave me a discount on the set.. the old set with discount was $1200 ish, new one was $1600.. he gave me a discount--$1420 after discount. was kinda happy about that. now i just need a sub.. and a receiver.. how do you like your speakers so far AU?

I like my SF-3s. Physically in excellent condition for floor models. Sound great. I took back the small center channel as it definitely sounded out of place with the large front speakers. Still have the SS-1 surrounds, but haven't really tested them yet.

As far as floor model abuse is concerned, I noticed on the display at Best Buy that the demo defaults to playing on the bookshelf speakers and surrounds if no one is specifically listening to the floor speakers. This means that floor speakers should have only been played if someone was auditioning them. The bookshelf floor models probably have significantly more play on them than the floor speakers.

I use 4 floorstandings for my setup, surrounds never do movies justice during fight scenes as far as bass reproduction.

Point taken. I may return the surrounds. They had a pair of SF-1s for about $250 after discount.
