Go to Slickdeals and read through the post. Attached to certain posts, there are three complete receipts from Best Buy stores in Louisville, KY, and two other stores (CA and FL). I printed them out, took them into my local BB store, and asked if they would price match. The daytime manager told me they could only PM if those stores still had them in stock (none did), so I figured I'd try again after shift change. Sure enough, the evening manager allowed the PM since I showed up with evidence that three other BB stores did indeed have it at that price. Persistence pays off!

No luck at the Northpoint BB in Spokane, WA. I found one on the shelf (way in the back) and took it to the customer counter with the printout of the receipt. They basically told me to screw off that it must have been an incorrect price adjustment. I called the store in ME and they confirmed the price was $55 so I went to a supervisor who also confirmed this on the computer. He then called over a manager who said "can't match another stores prices" as soon as he heard what I was trying to do.

Ah well, there is a reason I don't shop at BB anymore. The only reason I was even tempted by this deal, besides the awesome price, was that I got a gift card for Christmas so the drive would have been free.

Went to the local BB here in Colorado Springs, CO and they didn't have the SKU for the old model. I called them before I went and they said they had 2 available but when I went to the store they didn't have the old model in. The guy called it a "SKU wash" or something like that.

About 5-6 of these at around $220 in Denver... no luck with a PM.

For anybody that's interested, they did have a couple 750gb seagate PATA drives for about $130 or so on clearance.

Out of curiosity, did you have them check the loveland or ft collins stores? You could save me some gas...

I stopped by my local BB (Salinas, CA) and they said they had five in stock, at a clearance price of $189.99. I mentioned that other BB stores have the same drive for much less and was told that they don't match prices from other BB stores. I then asked if they could look-up on their system what the other local stores were charging (there are two other stores about 20-30 minutes away) and was told that they did not have that ability - given what others have posted it seems as if the latter statement was not quite truthful.

Yeah they have the ability to do so, but obviously not something they have to do since it's an internal pricing thing (like how most customer reps will not show what the retail markup is for an item). Really up to the customer rep to look it up and show it to you.

Glad to see the receipt scan worked for some of you. I did buy the last 2 that were left in the store yesterday, so that's 6 of them I was able to buy for that price. I may have to check a few other BB's in the area and see if they will price match my 2 receipts.

I scored one today using the return & rebuy method.

I tried asking for a price match because their system showed the $55 price at the second store. They said they don't price match discontinued items. So I asked her if I return the item outright and then pick it up off the shelf and buy it what price will I pay. She called the manager back and smiled saying he said "you got me there" They then gave me the price match. Pulled the drive out and it's a WD7500AAKS SE16 drive. Exactly the same as the other 2 750's I have. The whole thing couldn't have gone any better.
