You bastards! Damn college kids. How do you afford a $700/mo apartment and go out partying?

Being mature counts for something in this discussion since that's what we are talking about. The kids who rated him out are not mature.

They are petty for not confronting him. Unless they confronted him previously on more than one occasion and were turned down. At that point it's understandable.

Any idiot can run to the "boss" and rat another person out instead of opening a line of communication. It is the easiest thing in the world to close your eyes and block the other person out and retreat back to your mommy's womb.

I see it at work almost daily. They don't have to be 18 or 35 or whatever. I seen plenty of grown men act like pansies. If it was up to me I would slap them across the face so hard that their bones would ache for a week.

One last note. I don't know why but, except for a few exceptions, the vast majority of pansies are little people. Everyone who got pissy with me or refused to listen or even talk things over has generally been little people. Usually 6" to a foot shorter than myself.

I'm starting to see a pattern here.

I don't suppose all those college kids are little people compared to you MichaelD? It might explain something.

Besides the usual penis envy it is probably some sort of short person complex where they are scared shitless of larger people.

As I said I see it every day.

The worst example is if it's someone above you at work, my case, and when they tell you to jump you don't say "how high" but rather say "why". Their mind just closes up shop and takes a vacation.

It's amusing but it might get me fired cause these people tend to hold onto grudges too. How I hate people like that.

And then take loki8481 to task for being judgemental...

There you go judging a person who isn't like you. I'm not really blaming you, it's your personality and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Let's at least try to be intellectually consistent!

Anyway, it sounds like you and MichealD are kindred spirits and ought to live together (again, anywhere but Oregon).

I pointed out that not everyone was like that and I speak from experience. If I said everyone was like that then it would be a wide sweeping judgemental statement.

It wasn't, so drop the subject. You are fishing where there aint no fish.

Edit: One last thing. You are also dead wrong in thinking I'm anything like MichealD. But thanks for judging me based on next to no information hypocrite.

Boy, there's so much ignorance in this thread, and 99% of it isn't me.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and possibly my choice of words has confused some of you.

When I said "Bust my ass to pay $700/mo for this apartment" that means "I work hard." That does not mean "I can barely afford it."

My financial situation is quite stable, thanks very much. And I can guarantee you that my fridge and pantry look like Costco after an overnight restocking compared to their bare cupboards.

*shrug* Someday, I will live in a house, and my ultimate dream will have been realized and I'll finally be happy.

I have nothing to say to these little nimrods in the building; they should've taken the issue up with me FIRST, instead of "running to mommy." That's RULE #1 of apartment living; you take issues up with each other first instead of running to mgmt.

To those who uderstand: Thanks for your support.

To those who don't: You're entitled to your opinion, and I've enjoyed tossing darts back and forth with you.

I only read the first page, but, regardless, I find this highly comical.

By your own admission, you are a 35 year old man living in an apartment with all college kids. You sit at home on Saturday nights and watch movies and blast your stereo. That's from your own comments.

I'll be living in a college-oriented apartment this year near a college campus, and if there is a creepy, single, 35 year old man who sits inside all day watching movies and listening to his stereo, I'm not going to approach him either. I'll go to the super way before I'll risk ending up in pieces in his freezer.

Also, I'll be paying about as much as you for my rent. How? Not parents, but scholarships. If my standardized test scores (which I don't hold much stock in) cause every school I apply at to throw money at me, of course I'm going to take it rather than work. I make up the difference with loans. Not very difficult. Why you'd be critical of that is beyond comprehension.

Some advice...If you can't afford a house, perhaps consider moving to an apartment that is more in line with your age-group. An apartment "full of college kids" is likely not the best place for a single, 35 year old man that doesn't like to party.

Best of luck.

Hey guy, I don't really know what your rant meant but there's one thing I want to say:
If you play music or watch TV too loud, that's just not cool. Please consider the other people who live around you. I would be pretty upset if the sound was so loud that it knocked my picture down. I'm sure pretty much everyone would agree

Make friends with them. That way, they are less likely to rat you out to the management.

Wear a Bob Dylan t-shirt.

Once they start calling you dude, invite them to your apartment for pizza.

That's where the fun begins!

PS: Make sure you get really good locks and you might want to get some sound insulating materials, and just line the walls with it. So your other neighbors don't complain about the noises they make in your apartment. The gurgles won't be as loud as the screams though.

*sigh*

1. Did my partying long ago, when these kids were in grammar school...been there, done that. Hanging out in a smoke-filled club with people 15 years my junior (we have nothing to talk about) and spending $$$$ on food and drink is not my idea of a good time anymore.

2. I go out when I want to, but truth be told (see#1)I'm now happier staying home. You'll understand this when you get to be...about 35 or so

3. I moved here b/c the property is pretty nice and the clientelle appeared to be what I was looking for. Nice cars in the lot usually are a good indicator. I did not know my building was full of 20-somethings.

4. This was yet another stereo rant by yours truly...the beatings will continue until morale improves.

I see your point...I bought it b/c I wanted it and I could.

Well, I've got work to do. Later.

I live in an apartment, is a college "kid" and I left my CW-sub at my parents so I wouldn't disturb my neighbours.

Here's how I feel about your extremely considerate gesture.

I, OTOH, actually want to USE the things I've purchased.

ehh...$700 is pocket change dude.. I'm 25. My gf and I split the $2800/month rent while I pay the rest (bills, utilities another $600 or so a month for 3 land lines, 2 cell phones, ConEd, TWC etc.)

Keep in mind times are changing and things get more and more expensive while wages reflect the change as well. 100 years ago if someone made $50k, he was one rich mofo.

There you go. You thought Cavaliers were nice cars. Screwed up thinking like that has obviously tainted your entire outlook.

No love for the child support paying MichaedD?

I've been in the same place, paying bills, child support, livin cheap, hoping to god it doesn't last forever...

The best part is you don't even get to claim the kiddo on your taxes. Let's see, how well would any of you do if you were paying your 30% to the IRS, state income taxes, and 20% in child support?

Sucks.

I can sympathize with someone who needs to live cheaply. But just because MichaelD is 35 and has to pay child support does not entitle him to some sort of special privilege in his apartment complex. How much food he has in his cabinets and how the 20 year olds around him pay their rent are irrelevant. What is relevant is that he does not appear to follow the rules of courtesy that exist for ALL tenants in an apartment building. Blasting a sub this big in an apartment is disrespectful. Period.

MrChad, you're another one who doesn't see the big picture. Many comments have been made in this thread about "maturity" which I never mentioned. Also about "responsibility."

Part of growing up and being responsible means having a place to live with FURNITURE to sleep on and FOOD TO EAT. The point I was trying to make was that I am in a more advanced stage in life than most of my fellow tenants.

Then again, I am posting in a 20-something forum.

Months ago, I took a hiatus from OT. Think that was a neat idea I'll be repeating. Soon.
