Yes, the deal is still available.
The rebate is included when you buy.
Cashiers will give you a rebate booklet which includes Prime P. rebate on page 21 or 23.

Why not go into the B&M store? Because you can save $5 if you buy it online!

$45+$5 item + $3 1/2 tax, -$10 code = $43 1/2

better than

$45 + $3 1/2 tax = a little over $48

Even better with ebates... we're here for hot deals! saving every buck if the point of this forum.

$200.71 shipped -$45 rebate = $155.71...not bad

It depends.
A few bucks cheaper, a few days of wait.
Online order is good for someone far away from their local OM.
Save some gas, and a few bucks. (presumably new customer)

I bought these at the B&M store today...CDRIdentifier says:

ATIP: 97m 32s 19f
Disc Manufacturer: Prodisc Technology Inc.
Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 9)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Anyone know anything about Prodisc? CDMediaWorld didn't have enough information to rate them...

If those are the specs for the CD's in the 200 packs from OM, then they are exactly the same as the $9.99 50 packs sold at CompUSA(the kind in the shrink wrap made for CompUSA)except for the amount of recording space.

I have some of the CompUSA models and they say this:

ATIP: 97m 32s 19f
Disc Manufacturer: Prodisc Technology Inc.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phtalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 654.49MB (74m 30s 00f / LBA: 335100)

Obviously, I'm running a newer version of CD Identifier than you are Booty.

I burn these in my Iomega (rebadged plextor) without any problems. However everything I burn in my Iomega works; TDK, CMC, Yuden's, Prodisc, Ritek, everything so far.

If these CDs are the same as the CompUSA shrink wrapped 50 packs, then does that mean they don't have a protective coating on top of the disc to keep the dye from flaking off?

I've had that happen to a few of the CDRs I got from CompUSA.. I already ordered a 200 pack for myself, but I'd rather pay a little more and have better quality CDs that will last.

I just talked to an OfficeMax customer service rep, she said that they are out of stock on the CD-Rs and will not be taking back orders. The items will be pulled down from the site sometime this afternoon.

Just picked some up at my local OM:

ATIP: 97m 26s 66f
Disc Manufacturer: CMC Magnetics Corp.
Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 6)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

These are the type with the Prime Peripherals label on the top, not the black ones...but they are CMC. Sure seems like there are many different manufacturers throughout the country...

Anyone else hear the same thing as "thedawg"? They took my order so it doesn't seem like they have the option of not fullfilling the order.

I have not heard that, but it still shows on their main page. You can call their customer service directly at 1-800-283-7674 and see what the deal is.

All things considered though, this is the way to do a promotion. Kudos to Officemax for having tons of these in stock!

Time will tell if we will be also offering kudos to Prime Peripherals and/or their redemption center...

And thanks everyone for the kind words, it was nice to be able to "give something back" to this group that has saved me so much money!

WTF, its pretty obvious that you guys aren't gonna listen and hear these disks aren't anything you don't already think they are. If you don't think you'll want them, DON'T BUY THEM!!! No one is forcing anyone to buy these discs! If you're worried about you data, DON'T BUY THEM!! It's as simple as that!

Am I the only one who thinks it just plain logical?

The Prime Per dics I got look IDENTICAL to some PNY 80min CD-R's I have...

Prime Peripherals; CDR Identifier 1.62:
ATIP: 97m 27s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Digital Storage Technology Co., Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

PNY; CDR Identifier 1.62:
ATIP: 97m 15s 17f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phtalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

The PNY's have a very similar silver+black print on top, and the bottom of the PNY + PP are identical in reflective property and color (silver with light green tint).

I suggest reading this Usenet post that says ATIP information is often incorrect

<< Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 6) >>

My Memorex CDRs have the same dye type. They work fine in my Plextor 4x12 (for data anyway).

I'm gonna try ordering them through borderfree to get them shipped to Canada, but it says on the OM site that if they don't have them in stock they won't backorder, any idea what borderfree does then?

Also do you think Prime Peripherals will send me the rebate to Canada (IN USD since that's what i'm paying them in)? Is there any way of finding out if they will?

I went down to my OfficeMax in Connecticut... I entered to see a guy leaving with a box. I went to the huge rack (they must have been able to fit about 140 CDR boxes), and saw only 3 left. I snatched one, as did another person at the same time. I realized mine was opened, so I rushed back and swapped it. I checked out, and saw a person grabbing the last box as I left. The person I had snatched up the box with was saying how this was too good a deal to pass up. This was at the Fairfield store, so don't bother checking it because they are out of the boxes .

My OM receipt HAS A DATE ON IT. OM DOES date their receipts. I bought mine at B&M (obviously), much easier, no shipping, no worrying about a backorder like Iomega, etc. . I now have 293 CDR blanks to use hehe .
