Cable vault. Nothing like being surrounded by several feet of concrete and steel all around. Just have to hope it wont be a direct hit or a hit that's close enough to cause it all to collapse. It's fairly deep underground that I *should* be ok from the main shockwave and radiation. The tunnel that leads to the manholes is blocked from there but there is a small section that is maybe 6 feet deeper than the rest of the room so could probably just go crouch down in there. Optionally could run outside and get into the manholes from the street access.

If I was at home, I would go in the crawlspace under the garage. Not quite as thick of concrete but pretty much same idea, surounded by concrete all around. I don't know if I'd be safe from the radiation but I'd be safe from when the house gets vaporised off the foundation. It would at least buy me a year or two of life till I die from cancer.

http://www.wikihow.com/Survive-a-Nuclear-Attack

The bright light from a detonation of a nuclear weapon can be seen tens of miles away from ground zero. If within the vicinity of the blast (or ground zero), your chances of survival are virtually nonexistent unless you are in a shelter that provides a very (VERY) good blast protection. If you are a few miles out, you will have about 10-15 seconds until the heat wave hits you, and maybe 20-30 seconds until the shock wave does. Under no circumstances should you look directly at the fireball. On a clear day, this can cause temporary blindness at very large distances.[7] However, the actual damage radius is highly variable depending on the size of the bomb, the altitude of the explosion, and even the weather conditions at the time of the blast[8]
  • If you can't find shelter, seek a depressed area nearby and lay face down, exposing as little skin as possible. If there is no shelter of this kind, dig as fast as possible. Even around 8 kilometers (5 miles) you will suffer third degree thermal-burns; still at 32 kilometers (20 miles) the heat can burn the skin off your body. The wind itself will peak at around 960 kilometers per hour (600mph) and will level anything or anybody caught in the open.

Grab a beer and head for the roof. Who wants to die of radiation poisoning while trying to avoid the CHUDs that will take over the Earth?

Pretty much this. The people with as much luck as you can have after receiving a nuclear strike are the ones who die immediately. Sticking around for the part where people are screaming, blind and dying from being cooked with radiation and having to deal with the physical and electromagnetic results of a warhead (or several) going off isn't something I'd like to experience.

I'll take the flash of light and immediate departure for the happy hunting grounds thanks.

I would butter some bread, put some cheese on it, and chow down, knowing that I would be vaporized before the pain from my food allergies kicked in

I actually think about this possibility several times an hour and consider variables:

Dude dont live in fear. Approach any new day as a gift so if something happens bad you just deal with it.

If noone else knew about it so no gridlock I am far enough from downtown indianapolis that I squeeze my kids into one of my performance cars. We would drive from our suburban house to our farm a few hours away. Have shelter and food/water there and gunz too.

How long would it take me to go 325 miles at 180-195? Im bad at maths

Find the nearest manhole, try to climb in.

Refrigerator.

Duck and cover.

Pull up the weather forecast to check the prevailing winds (in order to move upwind of the fallout after detonation) then go down into the subway.

My work building has an underground concrete parking garage. I'd head down there asap and head into the bathroom, which has a seriously have metal door and is in between all the Central concrete supports for the building.
