Nice little scanner, pretty quiet. Runs just nice under Win2000. Beware of the PaperPort 6.5 software, i couldn't get it to print in win2000... upgraded it to 7.0, and all is fine.

For those that are confused about the rebate issue: there are two separate rebates. The staples near me that sent the unit to me was kind enough to enclose copies of both rebate forms for me to use. One goes to staples with a COPY of the UPC, the other goes to Visioneer with the ORIGINAL UPC.

I know others have stated this, just confirming.

Well, if Staples is advertising both rebates in the Sunday ad, who am I to question them. Well, I guess I just got my scanner for -$9.53 shipped and taxed. This price is also including the stamps to mail in the rebates. Staples applied the $30 off $100 even though the MS mapping software is unavailable. This is way better than I was expecting.

Thanks for the heads up on this deal. Sorry for the earlier posts, it just seemed a little fishy to me.

In_Ur_Face, sorry that you didn't get in on this. But not only did the rebate expire. The $30 off $100 coupons expired too. The only ones close to the $30 off coupon are the $20 off $100 or $30 off $150 coupons.

Really that bad? Well i do wish ms software had voice recognition and audible commands..would seem to be a given for gps software on a laptop u'd think right? grumble.. that and the rand mcnally software is better for tracking movement, but lacks directions. grr

I saw in the March 2001 copy of the Officemax rebates book last night that Visioneer has another $30 rebate for this scanner valid from 2/25/01 to 3/31/01. This one goes through http://www.tcarebates.com, in New Rochelle, NY. It is NOT exclusive to Officemax only.

So, this might be of interest to a few of you still. The rebate says it wants original UPC and a copy of the sales receipt.

for the MS Streets and Trips rebate, what city and state do you use for the rabate..... it asks for a city and state, but it was purchased online, so I don't know what city and state to use.

Got my scanner yesterday. DEAD ON ARRIVAL. Waddled over to a nearby Staples and traded it in. Now working fine.

Does anyone know how to turn the scanner off when not in used? Does it automatically turn off by itself after being idle for a period of time? The light on mine is still on after some half an hour, this can't be good for the life of the lightbulb. Do I actually have to unplug it? Thanks.

One question, how do you make it fax? Do you need a separate fax program? I'm using Windows 98.

I bought the 4400 to replace my Visioneer One Touch 5300, which has fax built in....
