Electronics, some of the most comfortable couches i've ever been on have been cheap shitty things. I have nothing against spending money on either furniture or electronics, but I know where i'm putting my money first.

Never understood Couches. Never thought they were all that comfortable, and they are 99% of the hassle associated with moving.

I'll offer the dissenting opinion. While I, like most on this forum, care way more about the home theater than the couch, I also live in reality.

I would get a nice couch and you can always build the home theater in pieces as the budget becomes available. Much harder to upgrade or add to a couch.

That said, if you have no women in your life (or don't plan to) or don't plan on staying in your current home/apartment very long, then yea what everyone else said. Throw away couch and bitchin system.

if you're in an apartment with shared living walls, i wouldn't bother with HT stuff at all. if you can't even turn it up loud why bother?

How big is the room you need to fill? And is this a standalone house or an apartment/condo/townhome? If it's not a standalone home I wouldn't waste the money.

unless you are a complete asshole, spending $5 on a home theater if you live in an apartment is ridiculous (not really the cost that makes you an asshole, just the subwoofer you end up with but if you are spending that much, chances are you will get a pretty decent sub)....

shaking the units two doors down even at 7pm is still a pretty douche bag move...

We have neighbors that grind metal in their carport at 2am. I'm thinking of installing outdoor speakers and playing this all night long.

You haven't seen my bedroom furniture. As an added bonus, the master bedroom is upstairs.

I hired a company to move this set from Palm Springs to our house, they arrived at our house around 1PM and it took 2 guys 3 hours to move a bed, two nightstands, a dresser and an armoire into our bedroom (and my wife and I had already cleared everything out of there before they arrived).

Depending on room dimensions and personal preference, 5k might not really be that much money for a nice set up.

I spent 1000 on my 55inch plasma, 1000 on my sectional, 1300 on speakers about 60 bucks on wire and banana plugs and got a cheap stand from Walmart (which was shit and is now broke).
