You sound like a fairly intelligent person, yet many of your points would seem to contradict that. I can't help feeling that you have found a new site to troll on, but just for the sake of doubt, I'll point out some of the things in your post which set me off.

PC Gaming is over, and it?s YOUR fault. Yes YOU all you lame ass ?l33t? ?the PC is the best gaming platform? ?my wallet is lost with my balls? fools who talk the talk but lack the walk have ruined it!
This is largely why I called you a moron. Sorry, but statements like that tend to set off my bullshit meter. So you're blaming all those people who do not spend top dollar on the latest technology, for the current state of PC gaming? Do you really think games would be that much different if the average person had a state of the art rig? Let's face it, mainstream PC's will always be made up of the middle to lower end of available technology and games will always be targeted to that segment of technology. It's a simple rule of economics. If you can't please everyone, then please the largest segment and do your best to placate the rest. Granted, we would see some general improvements if everyone had a killer rig, but this would still not address the fact that the problem with most games is not the graphical capability of it's targeted machine spec. as much as it is low production values and rushed schedules.
You may think that I am konsole kid, but you are sadly mistaken. I run 10.5?s and 23?s (05/03) on an air cooled o/c?d FX55/6800GT sli rig. I?ve spent dollar after dollar on my rig, in hopes that one day, someone would make a game that would blow me away, but unfortunately, because I represent about 3% of the PC gaming segment, developers have left me to rot!
I'm sorry you feel that way. Actually, games like Far Cry, Half life 2, *cough* Doom 3, Riddick, etc. have done a lot for those of us with high end machines and I fully expect to see more of the same coming down the pipe (Battlefield 2, Stalker, Falcon 4.0: Allied Force to name a few that interest me...) As I see it, you are disappointed at having spent so much money on a killer rig and yet you have very few interesting games to play on it (and I can certainly identify with that sentiment). This could be as much to do with your taste in games as anything. While you and I might call it somewhat of a dry spell for gaming in general, I would imagine that there are others who have different tastes in games who are in fat city right now. Developers have not left you to rot. It's just that you are in a segment of gamers who is in the margin ie: high spec machine with very specific gaming tastes. (Ok, maybe they have left us to rot but can you blame them)? This is a business endeavor on their part and they will seek out and exploit the largest segment of the market at the expense of the rest.
All of you clowns who have been playing ?double-dutch? ([Edit] (NOT) having the balls to [know when to] jump in to the PC game), the majority of the users here running XP1600?s (or any XP for that matter) and Radeon 9800?s (or anything less than a X800pro/6800GT) have really tanked the PC market.
The market has tanked itself. It may recover and it may not but let's face it, everyone going out and upgrading their rigs to high end machines will not change anything. We will still have the larger problem of rushed, poorly developed games saturating the market and that, in my opinion is the reason for the declining state of PC gaming.
I don?t blame the developers really. That is why the PC games suck now, there is no market out there to spend the money to make a good game, and even if they did spend the production costs/time to make a really great game, only 3% of the users out there would be able to appreciate it.
There is a market out there (unless you consider 1 billion dollars not to be a market) What good is a technologically state of the art game though if it is not fun to play? (doom 3 anyone?) Again, the problem is a general poor quality of development. Even if we all had high end machines I say we would still be inundated with the same crappy games we are seeing now. I'm not about to blame the mainstream PC crowd for this problem because it's patently not their fault. You seem to be equating "great game" with high recommended system specs. yet there is much more than that to a great game in my opinion.
The PS3 has finished us off. (and if you haven?t seen the videos, I suggest you take a look!) At least I can sell my equipment to you before it becomes worthless. I?ve never seen graphics and action like that, but I bet we all could have.
Finished us off? It's more than likely a YEAR AND A HALF AWAY. Frankly, I think you are letting the hype get to you a bit too much. You really don't think the next year and a half will have ANYTHING to offer to rival what you've seen in a handful of questionable launch hype videos? Sell your machine if you must, but I worry that you'll come to regret it at some point.
I was SERIOUSLLY considering dual/quadcore and quad gpu PC hardware, but what is the use. I?ll be sitting there with a monster rig (like I am now), with nothing to play on it.
That's the downside of being a discerning gamer. You just have to accept the fact that there are often dry spells between truly great games and learn to savor them when you are lucky enough to find one that blows your mind.
Here?s how things rank up right now (imo)
Controls ? PS3 has blue tooth integrated. Many people have posted why 7 devices (lol) why an odd number of controllers? Well there can be 8 devices on a BT device, and not all of them will be gamepads. The sky is the limit now with controlling the PS3. This cell in my pocket could be a controller now, and the BEST wheel available at a consumer level is the Logitech Driving Force Pro 900 (a PS2 wheel).
Agreed. Chalk one up for the PS3.
Every time they sell a PS3, they?ll know that they have a user at a set level. The game will be compatible and look just as glorious as it will on anyone elses console. PC ? multiple render paths, games coded for the lowest common denominator.. It?s a crap shot.
It IS a crap shoot. But its one I'm personally willing to live with.
The next year or two will be (to quote a few of you fools) ?0wn3d? by the PS3.. No contest.
Perhaps, perhaps not. Personally I'm not going to sell my gear off more than a year before the "PC Killer" even hits the market. More than likely I'll buy a PS3 just for the handful of titles in it that actually interest me, but give up my PC? No way. No how. Never. Just a difference of opinion there I guess. At any rate, if the PS3 were actually release by spring 2006, I feel that the available PC hardware will outpace it relatively quickly and we will be back to the status quo. As far as the PC games go however, we can only hope that the number of quality titles will begin to rise. At this point I'm willing to settle for the handful of great games that trickle out each year and continue to hope that new technologies and ideas will re-invigorate the somewhat stale PC game climate we are currently experiencing. I guess that makes me an optomist but there are my own feelings for whatever they're worth.
Best of luck with your decision, though I certainly hope you'll come to your senses and keep that sweet machine on your desktop.
