And here come the console fanboys....
Look, people have been predicting the death of PC gaming at every new console launch in recent history. Has it happened? Obviously not. Will it? Very unlikely. Have you ignored the part of the PS3 previews where it said it won't be available for a year and a half anyway?
Actually, I'm the only one in this thread predicting it, and I'm not a console fanboy, the rest of the guys are basically calling me an idiot. I've invested really nothing into my console.. (Xbox btw), and it gets no love at home. Most of my time is spent tinkering on the PC, waiting for that killer app (game) that will never come. I had high hopes for BF2, but I bet it'll be just as sweet on the PS3
have any of you seen the PS3 Kill Zone movie? View it then comment back.
Of course I've seen that movie. Impressive, yes, but someone made the point that they never bothered to mention that it was being rendered in realtime like they did with the UE3 demo. Whether anything like that is actually possible in real-time on the PS3 (and more importantly, whether anyone will actually do anything like that) remains to be seen, and as I said, it's quite a bit in the future still. There are lots of new things coming out on the PC hardware side within the next six months, what makes you think that this console to be released a year and a half from now will totally decimate PC's? It's not as if hardware is going to come to a standstill in the interim...

When PS2 came out long ago the same scenario happens. Yeah the graphic was indeed better on PS2 when it rolled out. But what? Current PC games looks better than PS2.
Consoles games lack flexibility. The same architecture, altough is powerful by current terms; would stay for quite a while. PC is different, we can upgrade them. Games quality are improving all the time; While for consoles they are fixed
Haven't you see the demo of Unreal 2007? It looked AS good AS the PS3 demo
New technology are rolling out as well
WGF 2.0
PPU
Calm down and think wise
I've seen the 2007 demos and they look t1ts. But aren't they being cross dev'd on the consoles as well?
WGF 2.0 is great. I've watched several longhorn demos and saw it's power, but I don't think it will really solve the main points
PPU is also INCREDIBLE, however, if not everyone has it in their system, then what is the point? I think it's 2-3 years before ppu's are mainstream
Yes, Unreal Engine 3 is supposed to be able to run on next-gen consoles too. If anything, this would mean that PC's are still and will remain just as capable as these consoles. And this is before the consoles are even out; imagine what kind of awesome hardware will be out for the PC a year or two from now.
As for the PPU - you might as well ask "If not everyone has a 6800 Ultra, then what's the point?". If you have it, you can use it. Unreal Engine 3 is going to support the PPU tech, and if past Unreal engines are any indication, it will be licensed many times over. Hell, there are several licensees already.
