Gone Jet Skiing. My FIL has 2 and one of them hits close to 60MPH. It's stupid fast but I've wasted entire weekends on that thing.

Another one is:

Traveled to the British Virgin Islands. All I can say is, WOW.

Fixed. The USVI is too touristy. Even the BVI are, but not to the same extent.

done two chicks at the same time*

I had the opportunity. Seriously, it was offered to me and by beautiful women (both of whom I'd had sex with). But it wasn't my fantasy and it didn't happen. I guess it was because those chicks had been friends before I met them. The dynamic between them, agreeing to take me down at once wasn't cool with me. I guess it was too much about them and not enough about me. It was weird, it didn't seem right, I wasn't wanting too, I wasn't even ambivalent. I wouldn't put it down, though. In another circumstance it could be great, I'm sure.

Please, I've never understood that one. And yes, I have, more than once. It's no big deal.

That's our next stop . My wife and I went out to St. Thomas back in March. We went all out and stayed at the Ritz (not as expensive as you'd think, either). The beach was really secluded and absolutely stunning. We went SCUBA diving (for the first time) and loved it. But, like you said, once you left the resort it was a totally different world. Very touristy (and even a little depressing, given the poverty). I've heard the BVI are a little nicer... which would you recommend? Not that we're heading back anytime soon, but just in case .

We went to Tortola and it was spectacular. In St. Thomas I felt like everyone was trying to hustle us. We stopped at one place where a guy was trying to peddle pictures of his donkey dressed up in a costume. $1 per photo. But I snuck in my own shot, just for spite.

On the other hand Tortola was just perfect. You can't beat the views: http://www.infinitemile.com/gallery/cruise05/IMG_1548?full=1

While two chicks at teh same time was good, three was better!

No pics, I was quite busy.

You haven't lived unitl you have hiked Damnation Trail in the California Redwoods State park. Seeing the tallest living things in the world with the fog/sunlight shining through is truly awesome!

Picture!

I would think Muir Woods would be about as good (if not better), but you'll probably have to tolerate some bothersome tourists (tip: pick a slow day).

The Northern most are of the CaliforniaCoastal redwoods is really isolated and the old growth stands are huge in some places. Seeing multiple 300ft tall tress in one grove makes it worth the drive and the hike!

Tall Tress Hike to the Redwood Creek is amazing! Damnation trail from 101 to old Hwy 1 and then down to the Ocean is quite amazing as well. Plus the 6-mile hike down old Hwy 1 covered in moss and dirt is a splendid thing.

While the Grand Canyon was good, I love the trees

Yeah, I think you're right. While Muir Woods is great, and may even be the best, the high incidence of tourists detracts from it significantly. Maybe if you wear a walkman! Ha!! North into redwood country as you say, is the ticket. I'll make note of your recommendations and try to get there some day.

I have to say, it's been a long time (1960's) but my 2-3 trips and hikes into Big Sur I remember as being very special. Hiking up the stream was major. Of course, I was with someone very special, which helps, as well as being about 20.

Trees really are something special. I even marvel at trees sometimes in the city where I live.
