Assuming we're talking about in their prime:

Widespread Panic
Smashing Pumpkins
The Rolling Stones
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Deltron 3030 (Dan the Automator, Del the Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala)
The Gap Band

I generally don't like live music, but this would cover a wide range of tastes for the folks I invite.

Deltron 3030; this guy knows what's up. I wanted to like "Event 2" sooooo bad cause I absolutely love their debut album but I was pretty disappointed in it. There's a couple songs on it I like but beyond that I was not impressed at all. It kinda seemed like Del was phoning it in, but maybe I need to give it some more listens. To be fair, though, I was almost immediately grabbed by the first album.

I'll go with:

The Queers
Zero Down
Pulley
Nirvana
CKY (with Jess-Darin-Chad-Matt)
The Lawrence Arms

Trick question, you get ABBA and have them do six sets.

Pink Floyd
The Who
The Rolling Stones
The Kinks
Blue Oyster Cult
Eric Clapton

The hard part is putting all of this in order - with 6 headlining bands, only 1 can headline! These aren't my 6 favorite bands, or the 6 bands I think are the best in the world, but instead are 6 bands that I think could reasonably fit into a 1 day/night music festival and make sense.

NIN (close)
Tool
Muse
GnR
RHCP
John Mayer Trio (open)

John Mayer Trio is actually nothing like John Mayer the pop singer. They basically play blues rock with lots of improv for their entire set, which is why I think they make a great opener!

Somebody's gotta do the 5pm "in the daylight" set, and it for sure aint the other 5 bands!

Prodigy
Radiohead
Iron Maiden
Led Zeppelin
Pearl Jam
Pink Floyd

That was a solid list. Was gonna post 3 of those when clicking on this thread, and then Prodigy and Pearl Jam just made a heck of a lotta sense.

Just get rid of Iron Maiden and put in Michael Jackson. That would be a nice funky change of pace:

Prodigy
Radiohead
Michael Jackson
Led Zeppelin
Pearl Jam
Pink Floyd

Agree! Saw the Mahavishnu Orchestra at national theater in DC. Don't remember which iteration of the band though.

I would have Loved to see the "Birds of Fire" tour--I was Still listening to the Archies--sugar, Sugar then, Haha.

I got to see Jerry Goodman-the Violinist-with Steve Morse in 1990. He never missed a beat.
