I completly agree with Skoorb, however r00tcause brings up a good point.
To be fair, you also have to consider that sometimes people have hardships, get laid off, etc, and are forced to work at some low-life job to feed themsleves or there family.
He might have worked for Enron or something before that. But nonetheless, being in your 40's and working at Wendy's is kind of sad. Although their food is delicious, I'd expect to see some pimply faced teenagers making it rather then a 40 year old. I mean, he could atleast find a job as a construction worker or something that has meaning. I mean, whats better then finishing a skyscraper, looking up and being like "I built that."

I remember the thread and it was about a second job....and failing at life is taking your own life. Anything else is struggling to survive and that it to be commended.

It's a failure of society. People are too lazy to make the effort. OP your pennence(sp) for being so mean is to seek out that individual and teach him to make change properly without using the sub key to calculate it for him!

W3rd.

Not everyone is gonna be a success by 40, or ever, but as long as they aren't in the streets bugging me for change i don't think it's fair to call them a failure.

Maybe the guy was retarded? Maybe he just got out of prison and he's trying to make an honest living? Maybe it's a third or fourth job? Maybe this job is the one that allows him to pay child support or is the job that puts food on the table for his kids? WTF man, think before you talk.

At least the guy is trying which is more than I can say for a hell of a lot of people, he has been able to swallow his pride and work fastfood instead of going to the Unemployment Office.

Get over yourself. It's obvious you've never had to struggle to support yourself.

Very well said. I don't think it's wrong to have posted what the OP posted as we all sometimes get a little carried away with where we stand in society but to continue to lack empathy when it has been pointed out that this person's situation is unique is certainly representative of a failure.

I consider it to be a "loser" job, but situations might make the guy temporarily take the job. Who knows...

As someone who has gone through some emotionally rough times in my life myself I have to say you are narrow minded, uncompassionate, inconsiderate, and ignorant. In your own words "WTF is wrong with people these days. In my eyes that deems failure."

reading back on skoorb's post i am beginning to agree. generally, having a job at wendy's when you're 40 is a failure. having a big retirement fund and working at wendy's just to kill time is a rare case.

I don't think we should look down on people who do the jobs that we deem unworthy, somebody got to do the dirty work. Like most people here, I respect people who work , even if they're mentally handicapped.

no, i wouldn't call that failure. It's an honest living.

I may go through a streak of bad luck one day and end up working in a fast food joint. At least I'll still have a job.

I was picking up some pizza at Domino's...total was $26.56 or something..hand the guy $27, and he looks at it..walks over to a drawer and pulls out a calculator.

...

So..I tell him it's 44 cents -- and he hands me $0.24. :disgust:

A honest job for a honest pay (even low) is ok in my book At least the guy is not staying at home and get welfare/foodstamp/goverment aids. Hopefully, he will find something with more pay.

never judge a man by his job.
i was getting gas with my father years ago..
and he knew the clerk at the gas station...
the guy was in his 40's....
apparently he was a laid off chemical engineer, my dad went to school with him and said he was one of the brightest people he ever met.

sometimes..circumstance dictates your lot in life...

I think you are not a loser just because you work at Wendys and you cant do simple math in your head. At least he is 40 and working to make a living - instead of peddling crack or something horrible like that.

The society has gotten so harsh on fellow human beings, and everyone has superiority-complex.
