I see the self-righteous still at it. Most of you people dogging me for mocking a grown adult doing something a HS student can master in 15 minutes, wouldn't find yourselves dead behind the counter of a fast food joint.
Plus, you're mostly being argumentative anyway. Like I said, it's possible he has a "good" reason to be working behind the counter, but chances are the guy is just a lazy ass, and never applied himself. End result: grown adult making crap wages doing brainless labour, because he never bothered to do anything else with his life. And you deride me for expecting more of a person? Fast food, besides middle/upper management, is a realm best left to high school students trying to buy beer. Unless this fellow has very extraneous circumstances - and you know as well as I that he probably doesn't - the tragedy in this thread is not that the guy does it, but that you sorry bastards consider it perfectly ok.
As mentioned, not a person here wants their child to work in fast food at 40 years old, so the least I ask is for a little consistency.
BTW, the guy isn't reading this thread, so stop crying and working yourselves into tatters over something this guy will never read anyway. Golly!
OK, so he's not a loser. Does that make him a winner? Turn off disney channel for a moment. Remember, also, that anybody who's had a decent job can make as much on unemployment as somebody working minimum wage, so if his unemployment ran out after the six months and then he STILL couldn't find a better job and is working at Wendy's, well it becomes increasingly difficult to try and fit into your little feel-good routine how this guy isn't a bona fide chump.
I would work fast food to make end's meet if I had to, but I'm _very_ unlikely to ever meet such a combination of ends. And, if I do, I won't for one second forget how many balls it sucks on a constant basis and do my best to get out of it. You people know as well as I that most 40 year olds working fast food have been having other such menial jobs since they were in their teens. In most cases it's not mental retardation; it's a lack of ambition and effort. Seriously, try and get with the times. You can't provide for a family or education or a couple of gifts at christmas making $6/hour and covering rent. It sucks gonads.
