Anime is good because it is a medium where stories can be told. Could you imagine a live action gundam? Or perhaps a live action Planetes? Anime is just a cheaper way to get a story across, and as such, I like it.

Ippos pretty good, but not the best. Too much man-chest.

Kind of akin to what someone else said, just pick up almost any sports anime and you're golden. I still need to finish Captain Tsubasa (soccer... or as one of my friends calls it, X-Men Soccer) as I think I never finished getting all the episodes . I should probably also pick up Whistle (soccer) and H2O (baseball) sometime. Never really got into Slam Dunk (basketball) though.
