I'm pretty amazed by the amount of people who think littering is ok. No, I do not throw cans, paper, or other crap out, I throw it in the garbage can where it belongs, which is exactly where your cig butts belong, not on the side of the friggin highway.

Not only that but birds love to use them to make nests. I'd hate to think I was killing off thousands of young chics because I didn't provide their parents with good nesting material.

You guys can't take a poke in the ribs? I certainly don't advocate littering, I would never throw a styrofoam cup out the window, but cigarrettes, it's not a huge deal. Look, it's like this, the area around a road is polluted. The area around a dump is polluted. We are both throwing our trash on the fuggin ground. The only exception is that you seem to think you are some righteous god for making sure your trash goes to a dump where it can help to devastate a large area for hundreds of years. You're the one pointing fingers, if you don't want the finger broken, don't poke me in the chest.

And you're right, I don't give a fluck, because the people I'm arguing with are 18 year old college freshmen with nothing to do but jerk off and insult people because they are too socially inept to make friends outside of their own dorm room.

I could take pictures with my digital camera tonight of the roads here (Minneapolis area and points north) that are not polluted, and are along the road.

My point is we should minimize the area's we affect, and not just disregard not only laws, but the land, by throwing junk all over the highways.

Exactly why I prefer to throw my butts on the road. I couldnt bear to think that some homeless guy at the dump would be finishing my half-smoked butts when I know that there are thousands of birds out there who could use them. God bless those birds.

As a former smoker, I've been with lots of other smokers on cigarette breaks and such and I've seen some pretty disgusting things. I absolutely hate it when someone throws their butt in the street when there is an ashtray 2 feet away! Actually I hate it whenever someone throws a butt on the ground, period. Little kids put things in their mouths and some have been poisoned from nicotine. Not to mention the fires. How irresponsible can you be?

For those people who advocate littering by throwing their cigarette butts out the window, thank you for showing us the light - it is okay to litter the environment wherever we like just because our household garbage is dumped in landfills. We should not worry about the damage cigarette butts cause so we should not worry about the damage landfills cause.

Hold on a sec though. What if we were to do the stupidest thing and recycle everything we can that is practical to? What if we did not thoughtlessly litter our environment with our trash but managed what we could not recycle into controlled environments?
