FYI

I previously posted in another thread in regards to buying from Monarch and/or Newegg, aka: advantages, pricing, customer service. Well, let me share my experience today...

As I stated, I purchased a combo from Monarch yesterday, thought I was getting a great deal. Today I was reading a post that questioned whether to go with Monarch or Newegg and I put my 2 cents in. Then, just for feces and giggles I ventored back to the Monarch site to see if anything had changed on the combo deal. It was at this time that I realized that I had made a mistake in my purchase. My intent was to get the windchester core and MSI combo. MY MISTAKE!! In all the excitement of making the purchase I did not make it clear that the 90 nm was the core of choice. As a result I ended up ordering the 130nm core. Needless to say I paniced and immediately called Monarch and told them my situation. The lady (nice to call a number and hear a human voice instead of punching numbers) immediately looked up my order and verified what I already knew. She then transferred my call, as luck would have it, to the rep. that wrote up my order the previous day. After discussing the situation (during our talk he got off the phone and did what he could do to stop the order from going out) he gave me some information to email back to Monarch that would help me exchange the product. Before we finished our discussion he told me he didn't know whether or not they could stop the product from going out but to give him a call tommorrow and find out.

Anyway, that was about 5:50, I remember because he told me they stop the phone in 8 minutes.

End of phone call.

For about an hour I was sick...then at about 6:55 the phone rang. Guess who? The rep from Monarch. Told me he got the product off the truck, put in the windchester core, flashed the bios, and that I should get it sometime tommorrow. I about chit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy made my day!!!

I believe this falls under customer service

by the way...his goes by the name of Will....1-800-611-0875 ext234

I've had a similar experience with monarch and it's nice to know that a few companies are out there to be honest and helpful!

customer service..........how many vendors would go out of their way to do what Monarch did...in my limited experience with online vendors I haven't come across to many that would go out of their way to help you...

i would think that is important if you have problems, if you don't have problems you won't see it

given the same set of circumstances would newegg have done the same thing?

Who knows... I've ordered from both companies and not had problems. I did have an issue with some Z680s I bought from Newegg. I had them replaced under warranty (hiss) from Logitech. I got them back and they still hissed, so I called Newegg about returning them. It had already passed the 30-day return window (I believe it was day 40 or so). They not only took them back, but didn't charge me their standard restocking fee either.

There are a lot of good vendors out there now. It's good to have options.

How much bigger is Newegg than Monarch? Newegg probably has hundreds of orders every day vs Monarch. You cannot resonably expect them to do something like this in an hour. That being said newegg HAS gone downhill, but for their size I still think they offer good service.

Lots of places do this for the latest gotta-have-it stuff. It's just how a free-market system works. If nobody would buy them at those prices, they wouldn't sell any.

Newegg.com expects its revenues to hit US$1 billion this year and increase to US$2 billion in 2005, and the company plans to list its shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange next year, Hsieh said

They probably have 20-30,000 orders/day.

It's true Monarch doesn't get as many orders a day but that just makes their service all the better. Their shipping time is right on par with Newegg's, and they offer a lot of pre-done stuff for you.

BUT

I had ordered OEM, they gave me retail and charged me for OEM. Bastards!

The way I see it Newegg is now being villified as the wal-mart of e-tail computer parts vendors. The " OMGWTFBBQ newegg screwed me/sux!" threads are on the rise, and the complaints valid or not are made out like da egg killed their parents and kicked their dog

I just did my first order with Monarch and they are excellent. I buy from around a dozen different places not including hot deals, and all are actually quite good IME so I just buy from the 1 on my list with the best price shipped for the particular item What I'm getting at is don't put all your eggs in one basket! *pun intended*

I agree that Newegg may have better return policy but customer service and shipping charges are not that good. I posted a thread where I returned a product that was defective and wanted them to replace it with a different model but they refuse to do it at any cost. If they are willing to give me a refund or replace the defective product, why couldn't they just give me the other product like I asked.

Now you guys might be saying " well just take the refund", but I make my purchases using money orders
and it would have been lot more easier and cheaper for both newegg and me, if they would have just shipped me the different item I asked for.

That to me is not good customer service.
Thats why I will take my future business else where.

Newegg has over 1000+ employees in worldwide, & over 100+ billboards in different state in nationwide.

Newegg is just too big to provide service like this. It is always nice to to see a smaller vendor give person-to-person help like this though. I've had great experience with Newegg and I am going to order two FX-55's from Monarch this week.

Now if all the vendors could just keep the price gouging under control we'd be ok.

and I might add that is REALLY nice of them to test the mobo and flash it. I almost wish I would have bought the combos just to get them to test it and stuff

Yeah, I posted some negative stuff about Monarch in that same Newegg vs Monarch thread yesterday and someone from Monarch saw it and PMd me a # to call. So I figured what the hell, I can tell em what I think of their high price on the new motherbards. Anyway, long story short, he made me a helluva deal, threw in free shipping and man I gotta say, I have never seen service like that period.

I may sound like a Monarch fanboy from here on out, but my god how could I not be after the way they took care of me today? Damn, my head is still spinning.

Bottom line is that some people at Monarch want lots of happy customers and it's clear to me that they'll go a fair bit out of their way to make it so.

That's some great customer service. I'd already made my decision to get a cpu/mobo combo from them when I upgrade in January because I won't have to pay tax (unlike newegg). This only reaffirms my decision. Awesome.
