1 Series... supposed to be a dollar store version of BMW that still costs too much for it's segment. You have an arbitrary price floor imposed in order to maintain "BMW prestige", so you end up with lower and lower end models crowding that price floor that give up a lot to end up being not much cheaper than the 3 series.

I must be getting old. When I see the stubby little 1-series, I just think about how useless the back seat is. They would be better off taking the back seat out entirely and just leaving it as a storage shelf.
And to tell the truth, I didn't buy a 3-series because nobody would be able to sit behind me in the back seat. Anything less than a 5 or 7 series is just too small for me at this point.
It would be a fun second car though. Too bad it's so stubby and pitiful looking. There are a lot of other cars I would prefer as a toy second car.
