lol most of these 'regrets' can only be seen in retrospect
POINTLESS.
you live, you learn, the end.
That's ok, we're all naive at one point and I don't believe that should be held against you.

Not applying myself in school. But it was difficult to gain any motivation in a shit town with a shitty family at the time...

I dont mean to sound like an asshole, but you wouldnt have survived the Navy. Not really. You just get depressed and give up on trying.
I know it doesn't compare to the Navy, but part of what kept me motivated during college was, "Remember what it was like to work in retail."I dont mean to sound like an asshole, but you wouldnt have survived the Navy.
A year away from home, 2 months at a time on the ocean, battlestations for 24 hours straight. I used to wonder why guys cried themselves to sleep at night, then I realized it was because they had it too good back home.
I'm in community college right now and I have to say its much easier than any job I've ever had. Which is annoying because many of classes are filled with angry, lazy, spoiled teeny-boppers who have no idea how lucky they are.

I was the sort who got nervous about my grade if it dipped to 80%, because the classes that mattered required >=70% to pass. I always liked having a decent buffer available for those times when I'd screw up on a test, or completely forget about a rather substantial assignment.
By chance, did you work for boatswains mates?Oh yeah - Joining the Navy to escape a horrifying life as a clerk in the grocery store.
It did a lot for me, but it also really fucked me up in the head.
