Let's see if my memory serves me right. These are the desktop CPUs I've had:
386 DX-33 (4MB RAM)
486 DX2-66 (4MB or maybe 8MB RAM, don't remember exactly)
Pentium 133 or 166 (non-MMX)
Pentium II 300MHz
Celeron 700Mhz (Same 440BX mobo with an upgrade card to replace the Pentium II. Bus overclock allowed to run the Celery at 1 GHz, letting me enjoy Doom 3 at playable frame rates with a Geforce 3 Ti 200)
AMD Sempron 2 GHz (ran nicely at 3 GHz. However, mobo ports started failing due to the bus overclock after about a year and my family had to throw it away)
Core 2 Q9400 (8GB. My first RAM maxed out build)
Core i3-2100 (32GB RAM. I know what you guys are thinking. What a waste. I turned off the paging and never had any issues like out of memory messages)
Core i7-3770 (upgraded the i3 on the Z77 mobo. Same 32GB Corsair RAM)
Core i7-5775C (Had to go with 32GB Kingston DDR3-1866 RAM since the Corsair RAM didn't play nicely with the Gigabyte Z1 Sniper mobo.)
Used to own an HP Pavilion laptop with Core i5-2400 (16GB RAM. HP support site said max was 8GB yet 16GB was seen and used by Windows without any issue. Laptop sold to my friend).
Now own a Thinkpad with i7-3820QM (32GB RAM) and an Asus N550JV laptop with i7-4700HQ (12GB RAM. Hardly use this laptop).
EDIT: Adding the RAM where I remember it.
